1998 U.S. Embassy blasts suspect dead: Somali government
Source: The Globe and Mail

The al-Qaeda mastermind behind the 1998 bombings of U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania was killed this week at a security checkpoint in Mogadishu by Somali forces who didn't immediately realize they had killed the most wanted man in East Africa, officials said Saturday.

The death of Fazul Abdullah Mohammed — a man who topped the FBI's most wanted list for nearly 13 years — is the third major strike in six weeks against the worldwide terror group that was headed by Osama bin Laden until his death last month.

Mr. Mohammed had a $5-million bounty on his head for allegedly planning the Aug. 7, 1998, embassy bombings. The blasts killed 224 people in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania combined. Most of the dead were Kenyans. Twelve Americans also died.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton — who was on a visit to Tanzania on Saturday as Somali officials confirmed Mr. Mohammed's death — called the killing a “significant blow to al-Qaeda, its extremist allies, and its operations in East Africa.

as to how Obama is responsible for the guy being shot at a routine road block, buried , then dug up later to see who he was.

Mr Mohammed was shot dead by Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces in north-western Mogadishu overnight on Tuesday, Somali security officials said.

"Our forces fired on two men who refused to stop at a roadblock. They tried to defend themselves when they were surrounded by our men," TFG commander Abdikarim Yusuf told the AFP news agency.

Gen Abdikarim Yusuf Dhagabadan, Somalia's army chief, said officials at first did not know who the dead man was.

"We buried him," he told the Associated Press. "But soon after checking his documents, exhumed his body and took his pictures and DNA. Then we learned that he was the man wanted by the US authorities."

It's humorous that the same folks run to deflect credit for sucesses from President Obama on the one hand

...lambaste him as being responsible for every little nuisance in their daily lives on the other.

Here. I found this report from 2006, especially for you.

On his second day in Kenya, Obama also held separate meetings with President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Uhuru Kenyatta. He delivered a speech to more than 500 people at the site of the new U.S. Embassy here, which was built after the 1998 bombing of the American embassy.

It was the site of the former embassy, though, that evoked considerable emotion.

Beneath the mid-afternoon sun, with his wife and two daughters by his side, Obama remembered those who died in the Aug. 7, 1998, attack that killed 224 people and wounded about 4,000. Twelve Americans died, while nearly all the rest were Kenyan.

The names of the victims, etched into a granite memorial, formed an alphabetic tapestry of grief, a roster running from Daihur Achau to Anne Mumo Zakayo, with scores of names between.

"This is something that I think we too often forget," Obama said. "This was the first strike of enormous significance by Osama bin Laden. This was the trial run on Sept. 11."

It is rather odd how you're so eager to criticize a Democratic American President, in such a petty manner.

15. Crown Prince of Terror
I heard the media throw around the term ‘Crown Prince of Terror’! Haven’t a clue as to who they were talking about though.

The more we kill the more that seems to pop up and one would think that 10 years of killing in that part of the world would be enough! But what the hell do I know?
