Maxine Waters Says Congressional Black Caucus "Getting Tired" Of Covering For Obama
Source: The Business Insider

Rep. Maxine Waters, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, says the group is "getting tired" of making excuses for President Barack Obama's job creation record.

Speaking at Wayne State Community College in Detroit yesterday along with other members of the caucus, Waters, who is under investigation by the House ethics committee, said "we don't put pressure on the president."

Waters said Obama is not paying enough attention to the problems of some black Americans — with his three-day bus tour not stopping in black communities.

1. Again....
congress not doing their job...WHERE IS MS. WATERS JOBS PLAN THAT CAN PASS IN THE HOUSE AND OVERCOME A FOR SURE FILLUBUSTER IN THE SENATE...if there is such a plan, please someone tell me what it is...easy to shout and be a flame thrower, it's another thing to actually have to deal wuth the repub obstructionism like Obama has had to do since January 20, 2009 at 12pm and ever since.

4. That is right...where is anybody's job plan
The president will finally have one in September (after the MV vacation),
senate and house never had one except bailing out banks in trouble and
companies in trouble. Instead of encouraging successful businesses which
have obviously a good business model, the stimulus was spent on new
green businesses, failing businesses (GM) and local gov'ts in trouble.
Majority of new businesses fail, so not a good bang for the buck.

14. In actual net gains,
the stimulus has not worked. If the stimulus was directed
more towards what I said in previous post, we would be looking at 6%
unemployment right now.

18. according to the CBO...
it worked and saved millions of jobs..kept us from going into a depression...but yes it should have been bigger but with the congress Obama had to work with, that was not going to happen...but I don't know how you can say it did not work...CBO disagrees with you.

23. CBO analysis depends upon the numbers they are given by the commissioning agent.

GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out).

You'd be better off consulting other sources who aren't required by law to regurgitate what they're fed. Seriously.

I remember White House economists (including Christina Romer) say that unless the stimulus bill was passed, unemployment would go over 8%. With the stimulus, unemployment would peak at under 8%, then decline. By now, it would be 6.5%.

These were the promises used to sell the bill, from the mouths of its architects. Color me unimpressed.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/06/AR2010080606271.html

The truth is, the stimulus bill was a smelly bit of legislation that forsook economic efficiency so that every pol and special interest group could get their piece of bread buttered. We could have done SO MUCH with that much money, if it had been used for capital investments, instead of to service current expenses. It was, like so much from when we had super majorities in Congress plus the White House, a lost opportunity. What makes it especially fucked up is that people of the present received the cash, while people of the future get stuck with the bill.

By the way, each and every year for perpetuity, the stimulus costs $35 billion in interest alone - and that assumes that interest rates on Treasuries won't go up. Which they will.

24. Gov't can always print money and hire gov't workers
and those jobs count as "jobs created". Borrowing from China with
perpetual interest payment obligations to create non-productive jobs
is as futile as it gets. It will make CBO numbers look good but does it
help economy in the long run? Obvious answer is NO!

11. Who's the commander and chief and leader of the Democratic Party.

Democrats had both the House and the Senate and could have eliminated the filibuster totally when they did. For a brief time, they had a 60 vote majority. But compromise and looking forward not back was Obama's policy, even when they held up all his appointments.

He didn't have to negotiate with Repubs on the debt ceiling. He's in the executive branch. He could have done what Bill Clinton did and stayed away from it and let Congress burn with it.

But he stepped in, and it was a political trap. Now the deal has his name on it.

If African-American politicians are beginning to turn on Obama, he's real in trouble.

35. if Dems in Senate did their job and changed filibuster rules, the bar would not be set so high
to pass a bill.

Someone is not a hostage if you refused to take away their gun when you had the chance.

Compromise is fine AFTER Dems put up a good fight and use every available rule and tactic within the bounds of the law to win. They have come nowhere close to that.

15. Right.......
That Barack Obama should have tried to find some
Black kids to take a picture when he was in Iowa.
What could he had been thinking?
As a Black President, he should just stay his Black ass in DC,
so he can restrict himself to taking pictures with African-American kids
so you'll have one less thing to whine about. How about that? :eyes:

cause Black folks ain't fucking crazy. We will vote for Barack Obama in giant majorities in November of 2012, not matter how hard some of y'all are working for that not to happen. Hell, if Black folks voted for FDR after he cut them out of the Social Security program as a compromise w/t Southern Democrats, how in the hell do you figure they are gonna stay at home to satisfy some short sighted entitled assholes looking for revenge for hurt feelings?

Hell, if Bill Clinton kept getting support after reforming Welfare and getting caught lying about a blow job, why would anyone even cheer at attempts to alienate African-American voters from Barack OBama?

Health Care reform, Saving the auto industry, the Stimulus saving state medicaid programs, the Black Farmer's settlement, increasing Pell Grants, funding Community colleges, payroll tax reduction, credit card reform, Financial Reform (since the housing bust hit minorities especially hard), increasing Military pay and bettering Veterans' health care, closing the donut hole in medicare, sending out $250 payments to senior due to lack of COLA increase, reforming Crack Cocaine sentencing to same as powder Cocaine, insuring better meals are served in our nation's schools, and doing away with requirements set by NCLB.

How much does one man have to do in 2.6 short fucking years before someone will say something positive? Seems like he'll have to repair 30 years of the White Man's mess, provide every man, woman, and child with a mule and 40 acres (as was promised), just like the super duper janitor some people have decided that he should be! I'm so sick of the uninformed haters until it isn't even funny!

:WTF:

12. Many, maybe all, of them voted against the debt ceiling bill. A cynic might say
that was safe because it had Republican support as well as support from Democrats loyal to Obama.

Still, they did register a protest.

That is a divisive statement...what is the point of making race part of the equation?

America's doesn't have black problems or white problems, America has economic problems.

30. If you didn't believe in Obama's words...why did you "cover" for him then?
What kind of person are you? I'm fed up with these statements. I really am. If you think the person you're supporting is not legitimate---then why did you sell him? You would then be selling a lie and I find people like you despicable. Thank God, you don't make decisions for me. But for the people you do influence----you need to lose your seat.
