Strauss-Kahn New York sexual assault case dismissed
Source: BBC News

A New York judge has dismissed the sexual assault case against former IMF director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

The move came as prosecutors cited doubts over the credibility of his accuser, 32-year-old hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo.

Mr Strauss-Kahn, 62, was accused in May of attacking the African immigrant as she entered his hotel room to clean it.

The ruling means he is a free man, though he still faces a civil suit Ms Diallo filed this month.

2. Thsi will be a nice long flaming thread...what I have to ask, though, is how did $60K
end up mysteriously in this woman's bank account soon after the alleged rape? DSK is probably a dog, but this smacks of a set-up by his enemies.

4. Yeah. There's too many "WTF"'s on the part of the accuser.
She couldn't keep her story straight, an extra 60 grand in her bank account, etc.

Being a dog and being a rapist are two different things.

12. Yeah, I decided in the beginning to give this one the three day sniff test
and sure enough, that's how long it took before it started to smell.

This doesn't mean that an assault didn't take place. Nor does it mean that it did. However, I have never seen a hotel maid enter a room to clean it while the occupants were in it. Usually they knock and come back later when people are finally out for the day, especially when there's an expected checkout, as there was in DSK's case.

The whole thing had a distinct odor from the beginning because DSK is left of center and that undoubtedly alarmed the world's plutocracy.

If an assault did take place, it's really a pity Diallo couldn't keep her stories straight. Good luck to her in a civil suit, that one is likely to rip her to shreds unless she settles out of court.

5. I don't know if the accuser was a hooker or not
but she sure as hell wasn't much of a maid...

Turns Out That DSK's Swanky Hotel Suite Was Stained With The Semen Of Four Other Guys

In a motion to dismiss rape charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Manhattan prosecutors today reported that an analysis of carpet stains in the Frenchman’s $3000-per-night Sofitel hotel room “contained the semen and DNA” of three unknown men, while a stain on the room’s wallpaper contained the semen and DNA of a fourth unknown man.

The revelation that the swanky 28th floor suite was semen-soaked is contained in a footnote in a New York State Supreme Court recommendation for dismissal filed by prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

As for the source of that stray semen, investigators noted that, “the circumstances under which the unidentified DNA was deposited are unrelated” to the encounter between the 62-year-old Strauss-Kahn and hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo.

6. Guess there's a lot of freaky-deaky goin' on all up in there!
You're supposed to expect cum stains in a Motel 6, not a $3,000 a night hotel. Maybe he paid extra for it?

8. I want a fucking apology from all the DU law-and-order types
Edited on Tue Aug-23-11 01:15 PM by coalition_unwilling
(read: 'rush to judgment' types) who insisted I somehow approved of rape merely for insistng on something as quaint and obsolete as the presumption of innocence.

Actually, there are a small cohort of dedicated DUers here who are owed a serious apology by the law-and-order cohort.

13. I too want people to learn but I and several others I can think of
without much effort were accused of either being covert elitists for supporting the presumption of innocence for DSK or of condoning rape and misogyny. Really despicable when they made their accusations and doubly so now that the case against DSK has been dismissed.

15. You mean the loud and proud 'women never lie about rape' contingent?
The one that still insists the Duke lacrosse players did something wrong? You're not going to get anything from them but grief. Don't sweat it. They're not worth your time.
