Alleged pepper-spraying Walmart shopper surrenders

By msnbc.com wire reports

A shopper who allegedly fired pepper spray at other customers during a Black Friday sale for Xbox video games has surrendered to authorities, Los Angeles police said Saturday.

Police Sgt. Jose Valle told the Associated Press that the woman who allegedly caused minor injuries to 20 shoppers, including children, at a Los Angeles-area Walmart had turned herself in Friday night.

She was not in custody, but could face battery charges, Valle said. The woman's identity was not released. Police said they would release more details later Saturday.

The alleged attack took place about 10:20 p.m. Thursday, shortly after doors opened for the sale. Employees brought out a crate of discounted Xbox video game players, and a crowd formed to wait for the unwrapping. Valle said the woman began spraying people in order to get an advantage.

1. This is so pathetic. In light of this, I'd like to say what my family decided we'd do for Xmas...
We made an agreement that we'd all buy books for one another, preferably USED. The surprise will be in WHICH book we chose for one another. A fascinating way of getting to know one another better, and a fun way to be exposed to a topic the other person would like us to read.

11. I love it!.....but
What are you going to do if they give you one of Glen Becks', or Sarah Palin's abominations to read in return? For me, the urge to hurl all over it would be more than I could resist. :puke:

35. You'll be a lot happier if you read only books that agree with your
position. Why step out of your comfort level and read up on what the opposition is saying? After all, knowing your opponent never got anyone anywhere, did it? And we all know that "friendly publications" are wholly unbiased. :sarcasm:

It just makes me so much a better person that I can't restrain my joy.

39. Read whomever you want but if you want to debate intelligently,
primary sources are better than secondary or tertiary because you lose the filter. This isn't really about whether you needs to get warm fuzzy feelings because you agree (I suppose some do) but whether you need to be accurate about what your friends and opponents alike actually say.

41. It would seem that you would relish *any* piece of fecal matter whose pages have been bound together
and given the nomenclature of "book". In addition, what a person loosely considers to be their valid or invalid ideas does not necessarily become worthy of consideration by intelligent life on this planet, simply because there is a publisher who thinks he can make a financial profit by selling them. Unfortunately, it is the situation in life where there are many among us who would seek to swindle financial profit from the masses, while at the same time give their ideas legitimacy, merely because there is another person who thinks they can also make a financial profit from the sale of those ideas, irregardless of how much those ideas may or may not make sense.

While I can on the one hand appreciate the seriousness with which you consider anyone who may think differently than you do, I on the other hand do not feel the need to feel secure in my thinking by being able to convert anyone who may disagree with me. There are all kinds of wacko people on this planet whose insane ways of thinking you will never be able to convert. You need to get used to it and get on with those things in your life that really matter.

44. I'll defer to your considerable expertise on fecal matter. Eat what
you eat and don't place those judgments on others. My post contained no degree of relish or non-relish. I know that intelligence officers spend years researching the other guys so that they can advise planners, operators and commanders regarding their capabilities and intentions. Good intelligence officers don't rely only on sources with which they agree. The best ones read 1st hand sources in their sources native languages.

20. I would like to add (for those that wish to exchange used books for Xmas rather than buy new gifts)
That libraries sometimes have a books for sale section. You can get books there for $1.00 or $2.00.

Goodwill has books for sale at $3, $4, $5 and $6. Figure out what your family members like to do, think, enjoy reading, etc., and go get them a used book, wrap it book with lots of care (and if possible used paper wrapping or paper bags, color them, or tie them with whatever you can find), and you'll see they'll like it.

If you want to go to a book exchange, they have books cheap there also, and you'll be supporting a small business on this, Small Business Saturday!
