Dan Quayle to endorse Romney for nomination
Source: Boston Globe

Former vice president Dan Quayle plans to endorse Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tomorrow.

The Associated Press, which first reported the endorsement, said Quayle believes Romney is the most credible candidate in the race.

The endorsement comes as Romney is trying to fend off a challenge from former House speaker Newt Gingrich, who is rising in the polls.

Quayle served as vice president under President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1993. Bush’s chief of staff from the same period – John H. Sununu – already endorsed Romney.

So Romney's going to accept an endorsement from someone who was a comedian's punchline for 8 years, and then caused narry a ripple when he ran for President on his own? Which adviser is telling him this would be a good thing?

6. I work with a few former Quayle staffers ...
... not the sharpest crayons in the box, I can tell ya. Not that it's a surprise that he surrounded himself with folks of an intellectual caliber similar to himself.

D'oh!

Maybe that's what Romney's handlers are hoping (vaguely) for?

14. If it means anything at all, it's that Gingrich's turn to drive the clown car
has reached the beginning of the end. The Rethug establishment wants Romney, and it's Romney they're going to shove down their throats.
