Whistleblower asked mom's advice
http://www.usatoday.com/usatonline/20040512/6194401s.htm

CORRIGANVILLE, Md. -- Margie Blank remembers the phone call from Iraq sometime before Christmas. Her son, Army Spc. Joseph Darby, a reservist military police officer, was on the line, and she could tell something was wrong.

Darby, 24, would later emerge as the soldier who alerted the Army, and ultimately the world, to the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. guards at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad on Jan. 13. snip

She thought he might be in trouble. But he assured her he was not. ''But let me ask you a question,'' he said, according to Blank. ''If you knew something . . . what would you do?''

His mother knew that whatever was bothering him was something important.

''I said, 'I would remain true to myself, because the truth sets you free. And truth triumphs over evil.''

1. Oh, man,...I love to see living proof of fabulous people like this.
This piece really returned some of the inspiration and hope that were tortured yesterday.

3. That's what my grandmother would always tell me. Plus 10 other variations!

I would say, 'Oh grandma!'.

What I'd give to hear her say those sentences again!

There are so many good Americans. Only a few maggots like Falwell, Robertson, aWol, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, Wolfowitz, Perle, Giingrich, Lott, Hastert, Frist, Delay...

If I were Kerry I call a national press conference and say;

'Americans we are a great nation. We've all accomplished so many wonderful things for ourselves, the nation and the world. But now, Republicans have set our country on a perilous course. There is little respect for law and order within the United States. There is little respect for America from abroad. We must vote out the Republicans in the Senate, House and Presidency. Together we will build a new dream. I promise you this disgraceful situation will never happen again. We need to set our course so that our economy can flurish again as it did under President Clinton. I will name President Clinton as Special Envoy to the Middle East. Only he commands the respect of all parties to negociate to stop this INSANITY.'

-------

My point is Kerry shouldn't sit by and let events unfold. Kerry should stand up NOW and take the reins. He should stand and look like a leader now. Not just make some comments to reporters after he makes a speech. Not even during a speech to a school or mothers' club. He should make a speech just like you see Chimpy make at the White House. Not infront of a crowd. It should be in a very serious room setting. Only reporters and TV. Now is the time for Kerry to seize power. Kerry shouldn't wait until the Dem. Conv. Now is the time. Today!
