STAFF REPORTER
Thursday, May 20, 2004,Page 1

Deputy Chief of the General Staff Admiral Fei Hung-po (???) yesterday, on the eve of President Chen Shui-bian's (???) inauguration, confirmed that the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier is patrolling the western Pacific Ocean between Japan and the Philippines, but added that the patrol was part of annual US Navy exercises.

"I cannot say that the US Navy does this for no reason," Fei said.

"However, I cannot comment on this on behalf of the US Navy," he said.

Fei made the remarks when answering a request by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Tang Huo-sheng (???) to confirm whether the Kitty Hawk is conducting military activities in the area.

I've been on the Kitty Hawk 3 times. Twice in Pearl and once in SF. An open house thing.

and till that time the neoCONs better stick to the ROUTINE else all hell be damned.

3. they always patrol
this area of the world. i read "proceedings" which is a naval magazine and according to many articles this one of the hot spots. protecting container ships from china and other countries, pirates, and terrorists..we are basically patrolling to protect goods. but there are plans to fight a sea war with china and the use of really advanced weapons systems against the chinese shore weapons and sea based weapons..ever heard of a rail-gun?
