Army admits it erred in recalling soldiers
The U.S. Army admitted Wednesday that mistakes were made in a recruiting sweep targeting former soldiers that was intended to bolster war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Recruiters wrongly advised former soldiers last week in e-mails and through phone calls that they had to sign up for a new tour of active duty by Tuesday or face involuntary assignment to units possibly bound for Iraq.
Though the Army has since clarified that a cutoff date was not in effect, some of the ex-soldiers contacted responded to the deadline. It was unclear Wednesday whether those who signed up for a new tour of active duty would be able to withdraw.

In April, the Army zeroed in on 118,732 inactive reservists, screened 40,000 it could locate quickly and determined 22,000 are eligible for recall, said Collins.

Whoa! They must be desperate ... What else will they try to get more cannon fodder?

1. You Think Rummy Screwed Up
Didn't make his orders clear or had to issue countermanding orders before the new wave of abuse photos hit?

Any way it goes, Dimbo can't pour enough in his advertising campaign to counter the damage.

Hee hee hee....

3. I think they decided they had to twist arms fast to get more bodies ...

and that they'd only back out if they got caught.

2. kick.
This is really scary. I know that recruitment tactics aren't always up front, or even ethical... but this is a new low.

5. They must have missed the memo...
Anything done in the name of Bush is ordained as perfect. It's god's will, you see, and since god is perfect, anything done by this administration HAS to be perfect by definition. To admit error is to tear at the entire foundation of the far right's belief system and is not allowed - you will never hear * admit an error, since his every action is what god wants.

6. Signed Under Duress
If the Army tries to hold them to it, they should go to court.
They will have no shortage of free legal help if they do.
This is an outrage!
