Warm reception for Aristide in Johannesburg
Former Haitian president Jean-Bertrand Aristide arrived in Johannesburg on Monday.

He was hugged by President Thabo Mbeki on arrival.

Aristide left Haiti on February 29, on board an American military aircraft, in the face of mounting civil unrest and accusations of corruption.

On hand to meet him with Mbeki were Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Aziz Pahad, Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, Transport Minister Jeff Radebe, Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota and director general in the presidency, Reverend Frank Chikane.

1. So the &^#(*** right wing thieves have sustained their win.
How to steal an entire country! Pitiful schemers Haitian criminals working with American criminals to disrupt a democracy. And few care. This is a typical Kissinger-Eagleberger-Meese-Negroponte- Reich and PNAC and Senator and Congresspeopls type takeover. All hail to the conquerors! Which country is next?

Powell was pitiful. Don't try to convince me that he is any kind of good guy. Please.

2. Another story says Mr. Aristide intends to return to Haiti.
And he is given the ceremony due a head of state. And the
Marines are leaving soon. Stay tuned.

3. All the while the Cuban doctors & staff remain
More doctors have arrived in Haiti since the floods.

Cuba sends life saving Dr.'s and medicines to the poor - the US/IMF send poverty death and destruction.

5. I'm sort of hoping this whole Potemkin coup will fall
apart when the Marines leave and the other Latin American
"peace keeping" forces replace them. Might as well be
optimistic.

7. Aristide sparks mixed reaction
<snip>
The Democratic Alliance formally objected on Monday to Aristide's arrival, calling him a discredited leader and a known violator of human rights.
<snip>
Freedom Front Plus leader Pieter Mulder said the decision to allow Aristide to stay in South Africa at government's expense and for an unspecified time had not been properly thought over by the government.
<snip>
The Inkatha Freedom Party expressed the hope that Aristide's stay in SA would contribute to peace and stability in Haiti - but called on the government to disclose what Aristide's stay was going to cost.
Independent Democrats leader Patricia de Lille said on Monday that as long as the government was within its legal rights, she does not have a problem with Aristide.
