Kerry Vacations With Wealthy in Nantucket (more AP crap)
Excerpt:

NANTUCKET, Mass. - After a week of campaigning for the less fortunate, John Kerry went on vacation with the fabulously wealthy.

Kerry is a rich man who promotes the Democratic ideal that government should do more to help the poor. He moves between both worlds, spending the past week traveling to downtrodden places like South-side Columbus, Ohio, and the affluent island playground of Nantucket.

Not since President Kennedy have Democrats been prepared to nominate a man of such riches.

Well, we know what the AP spin is going to be this summer.

He is rich, but so what? He's gonna do a lot more for me, so he gets my vote.

4. The Bush family is fabulously rich too. I rather doubt that they are
in the company of anyone that does not meet their exacting standards.
I'm not going to read the article because it has no real meaning given the facts at hand.

I think it may be time for a few letters requesting the AP move her to a more lucrative position as an OpEd writer, a job for which she seems remarkably well-suited.

What about Bush's vacations? That ain't a "working ranch" down in Texas.

Honestly, I think that a lot of these so-called journalists have either been paid off or someone is blackmailing them.

"Like Kerry, President Bush (news - web sites) is a Yale graduate who has benefited from his wealth and family connections. But Bush spends his down time as more of an everyman, preferring to spend vacations at his Texas ranch clearing brush."

Uh... since when is golfing and champagne fundraising considered "clearing brush"? This crap could be on the Editorial pages!

Maybe cause only "a-hole wealthy" go there as opposed to "fabulously"...

What BS....I personally have had the good fortune of having inherited some family money and having been lucky to work in some companies that helped me make money which allowed me to "retire" young and be a stay-home Mom here in Marin County, CA....does that mean I'm not a good liberal or Democrat or American citizen because I live where I do and might vacation in Aspen or Martha's Vineyard or South of France with friends and family?

It's not what you have, its how you live your life...That story pisses me off, especially when I think of the nouveau riche "have mores" trash like Ken Lay and others that the Bushes hang out with....If someone judged me because of my financial position or where I vacation versus how I live my life and where I donate my money and the volunteer work I do, that's just BS....liberal media my a**....they are all neo-con media...

I don't ever remember the media giving Bill and Hillary such bad press when they "vacationed"...whether it was with Jacqueline and others of the Kennedy clan aboard the family yacht...or, simply golfing in Georgia. Maybe it was because the Clintons weren't "wealthy" at the time.

And, of course, the current 'born-with-a -silver-spoon-in-his-mouth' pResident has spent 40% of his time away from the White House...fundraising, golfing, clearing brush, fishing or goofing off! And, who does he spend his time with? Nary a word from the "media" on this, however. Not one word!

Of course I am personally dismayed that the wealthy classes continue to run this country. When was the last time anyone from the lower, middle or even uppermiddle class was president?
In that sense, private and corporate businesses have been running this country for some time. I wish it was clearly a partisan thing, but in fact it's a class thing.

But of course, there ain't too many rich people as bad as the Bush Crime Family and their cronies.

Clinton, Carter, and Johnson came from humble beginnings in the south. (Gore was too) Clinton didn't even own a house until AFTER he was president! And they're all Democrats.

For Republicans you may have to go back a century or so.

28. Is that supposed to be JOURNALISM?
Even I know that a supposed non-editorial should never, ever stoop to the level of sarcasm, innuendo, and adjectives as that one does. I mean.. TRUE reporting means there is no bias, either way. AP and the media in general have been disgustingly favorable to Bush this week.. I'm not sure what they've been threatened with, but they are kissing Bush's ass like the scraggly pups they are. Between this piece of shit article, and the one about a guy who have 2k to Kerry, and was later arrested, AND.. the supposed smoking gun of Al Quaida and Saddam.. and I'd SWEAR the mainstream media is trying to tip things in Bush's favor lately... why?

p.s. Why the fuck doesn't this reporter report on the fact that Bush spends ALL His time with extremely wealthy? When has Bush been around any low income people lately?

33. Actually, this is a pretty stupid move on Kerry's part
He should vacation in a swing state. I remember Gore spending time in Florida preparing for one of the debates. It could him free local media coverage.

Should AP be wasting their time on stories like this? Probably not, but this is the real world, not fantasyland where the press just sticks to the issues. Kerry is handing them all this ammunition. Why?

39. Where Kerry could go for his vacation?
I have to agree that a Nantucket vacation just emphasizes his wealth and upper class ties.

My suggestion for Kerry is that he visit some of the National Parks, preferably in swing states like Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico.

The parks are underfunded and under attack by the current administration.

He can vacate, hike, bike etc but also give press conferences on the mess that Bush has made of the national park system and in some of the parks, he can specifically mention the environment.

There's a terrible drought in the West this year with effects on many of the rivers in the national parks and the wildlife - again a perfect vacation photo op for Kerry and Theresa - imagine trying to ride the rapids on the upper Snake river and finding that the water level is down 41% as it is.

57. oh, but the only wealthy people with "the common touch" are GOP
Didn't you know?

John Kerry and the Kennedy family (and Pierre Trudeau, for Canadians), and everybody else with a six-figure income or higher who happens to be liberally-inclined is just faking it. (The REAL liberals are a bunch of dirt-poor lazy whining welfare hippies, so anything they spout is also wrong!)

The only rich folks who are genuinely decent and humble are Republicans. And they just go to those ritzy vacation places out of a sense of duty, of course. When we see Dubya yukking it up at a wealthy enclave in Maine or Florida, he's secretly loathing every minute of it and is simply longing to escape to the Crawford truck stop and hang out with the heartlanders.

Funny, isn't it. The right-wingers become enraged at the sight of Gore, Kerry, and other people who actually had less money than Dubya but managed to go a lot further. Feeling a bit self-conscious, maybe?

62. The only reason the Bu$h family doesn't vacation
on Nantucket or Palm Beach or at any of the other posh resorts, is because the Bu$h family was shunned by high society, after grandpa got involved with the Nazis.

That is one of the main reasons why the Bu$h family is so vindictive toward everyone. They still have a huge chip on their collective shoulder.
