18. How about...
Edited on Thu Aug-21-03 03:24 PM by notadmblnd
The Constitution or the Bill Of Rights? How about the Declaration of Independence? Why don't we just put what belongs in a chruch in a church and what belongs in government buildings in government buildings? Seems to me the people on both sides would be better served.

Oh wait, what am i thinking? Must be having another "moment" :freak:

FOX News - MSNBC - CNN

This is public public entertainment in its's highest form consisting typically of a variety of performances by acrobats, clowns, and trained animals.

What will Bill O'Reilly say tonight about this idiot Moore?

8. I think they should just wait him
out. At the same time put up a running tote board of the $5,000 a day fine that it will cost the state of Alabama to alow Judge Moore to keep his rock. Along with the total, show the serices that will be cut to pay the fines and see how long the people will keep up the support.

What I really don't understand about this is -- can't he just go to church and pray and leave it at that? Isn't religion supposed to be personal?

19. amen:
JC Teaching on Prayer

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Lk. 11.2-4 5;Lk. 18.10-14

These things always in end up with the followers getting massacred by the leader... Maybe Moore plans to go to the jungle and start a country where government and religion can exist together...

23. he petitioned SCOTUS
for a stay, and evidently he purposely didn't do so in a timely manner. This is a guy who seems more than a little fond of grandstanding. SCOTUS declined, without comment, to grant him a stay.
If Moore appeals the decision of the Appeals Court, as he indicates he intends to do, well, we'll see what the Supremes do. I don't expect them to get rid of all Government sanctioned religious references or depictions.
The main thing the Constitution and the bill of rights protect is the right of the people to worship the god of their choice without the state dictating a specific religion.

24. He should get a tent
and leave the courts. His heart is obviously more in religion than it is in the law. I can just visualize him preaching and sweating under a tent in rural Alabama, with an out of tune piano, a tambourine, and several mangy looking locals in metal folding chairs waving their puffy hands in the air.

25. This asshole should not be a judge
Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore does not understand the meaning of "freedom of religion" and should be relieved of his duties. Freedom of religion does not mean that Christians are free to dictate God's laws to others.

26. Here's what will happen
Mark these words.

The SC will rule for Moore.
The ACLU and any sponsoring left will be discredited for a
generation.
The house, senate and WH will be off limits to anyone against
the 10C.

Never, ever underestimate the faithful. Faith in the left is
not ready for these times and you know it. There are limits
that are not ready to be crossed.

Mark these words.

not to take care of poor people by paying more in taxes?

I like that!

But they ought to move the monument to private property near the capitol. What pigs--they have to have their power or cry , pray and throw fits (like I saw on TV this am.)

While this is a valuable topic and interesting discussion, the subject line in the original article is simply unsuitable for the Latest Breaking News Forum. Leaving this thread open in its current divisive state only invites discord. Feel free to begin a new, friendlier but passionate discussion about Judge Moore in the General Discussion Lounge.

karlschneider, in the future, please refrain from using editorializing by using the word "moron" in the subject line of an LBN post. LBN is strictly non-editorial and is instead a "just the facts, ma'am" forum.

Thanks!
