Three claim run-ins with Bush campaign workers (SS reject undecided)
WCHS-TV8

WHEELING, W.Va. Two college students say they were denied access to President Bush's campaign rally in Wheeling today and campaign workers briefly removed a math professor known to support Bush's challenger.

Student Jeff Rogers supports Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry. His friend Jessica Williams is undecided. They wanted to attend the rally to compare what Bush said to Kerry's July 31st visit to Wheeling. They say they did not plan to demonstrate.

They made it as far as the ticket table. Then a Secret Service agent said he believed Rogers worked for Kerry's advance team, which Rogers denies. He did intern for the Democratic Party. They were not allowed in. ..

He asked Prather whether he was a Bush supporter. Prather said no and was told -- quote --- "This is a Bush rally. We don't want other people here."

The volunteer then took him out. ..

support. They don't give a damn about "real" support - because they already know that they are going to win. All they need is some polls that say the race is really close and some pictures of "events" that make it look like Bush has a crowd of "voters" in front of him. This thing is in the bag, all they need now is some pics for the defense later.

McCain has probably been bought off with promises of future "wins" for him.

7. Plus whoever saw this report on TV...
... may well be influenced, as well. Just sad that they must protect the Boy Blunder so fiercely.

I gotta wonder, though, about using the Secret Service to perform politics-based screening, and not just security-focused. Is it the Secret Service's job to protect Bush's ego? Shouldn't this work be getting done by Campaign workers? We, the people, should be getting reimbursed by the BS2004 Campaign for their misuse of SS agents.

9. Agreed. I'm wondering the same thing.
What's appropriate "screening" performed by the SS?

10. Since when is it the SS's job
to screen out people on the other side? Did I miss something? Is the SS now the Praetorian Guard?

14. the royal chimp is afraid to confront dissenters
he wouldn't know what to do. "He" is a basic coward, a fool, a dunce.
chimp is an embarrassment to the civilized world, and he represents his "base" of greedy cowards and know nothings.

19. Right!
The SS knew that this guy was an intern for the Dems (not a Kerry worker, per se). How in hell did they know that?! It is scary...

20. I saw a news piece this morning, about the ACLU getting involved
in this type of stuff. The story talked about the couple that were wearing "No Bush" t-shirts, quietly listening to Bush, who were arrested for trespassing. The story gave a few other recent anecdotes and in each case the local police were made by the SS to arrest these types of people for trespassing, only to have the charges dropped later. There were a few instances, though, in which the dissidents, or undecideds, would not have been obvious and they SS still knew. This is extremely worrisome.

21. Does it freak anyone else out that the SS had info on this guy?
I mean, they accused him of being on Kerry's team.. but he had interned for the Dems before.. do they check everyone out first? This is scary.. and unamerican.
