Iraq militants say killed 12 Nepalis--site

http://www.swissinfo.org/sen/Swissinfo.html?siteSect=143&sid=5182970

DUBAI (Reuters) - An Iraqi militant group has said it has killed 12 Nepali hostages and showed pictures of the
killings on an Islamist Web site.

"We have carried out the sentence of God against 12 Nepalis who came from their country to fight the Muslims and
to serve the Jews and the Christians ... believing in Buddha as their God," the statement by the military committee of
the Army of Ansar al-Sunna said on Tuesday.

The group posted a series of pictures showing two masked men, one in camouflage, holding down a hostage. The
men then appeared to slit his throat and hold his severed head aloft.

Others pictures showed a group of men lying face-down, with what appeared to be bullet wounds in their back.

2. I guess it's not just Christian crusaders that are fair game
for these fanatics. Hindu, Buddhist, Jew, whatever.

For those of you rooting for this insurrection - take note.

3. This shows that Iraqis don't really care about invaders' religion
They want the invaders out regardless of religion. Some may be religious fanatics, but most are probably nationalists. They fought hard against Iranians too, who are mostly Muslims.

5. This looks more like the typical barbarism of AQ-affiliated Sunnis
What mattered was that the Nepalis were "infidels".
And the terrorists were not necessarily Iraqis, though that is a possibility.

4. "this insurrection"
Edited on Tue Aug-31-04 07:09 PM by Aidoneus
A remarkably dishonest phrase, as if the matter could be so simply catagorized. Sadr wasn't down with this, so what does that make him--inside or outside of "this insurrection"? The Association of Muslim Scholars is considered as one ideological pillar of the mainstream Islamic Resistance in the center, they were appalled by this, are they outside of it as well? It would seem then that the bulk of the mainstream resistance--the actual heart of "this insurrection", why not go with "mutiny" like the Brits?--was against this; were you aware of these facts, or was the dishonesty unintentional?

6. Are we getting jaded to these?
Some have criticized me for linking others to www.ogrish.com where these videos are made available shortly after disclosure, but it's important for people to have this information. It's just a reminder, albeit a phenomenally brutal reminder, of just how badly we've jacked things up in Iraq, and how far we really are from being able to pull our troops out, despite what BuWolfoRove say. We are not winning the war on terror folks. Sites like Ogrish show us this.

7. I Have Just The Opposite Reaction...
as you. After watching this video I think that we need to get out today. We simply cannot ever fix it.

8. I so wish we could Jay...
...but after Afghanistan in the 80's, then Iraq in the 90's, now again Afghanistan, and once again Iraq, we simply cannot turn our backs on them again and walk out wiping our hands. That's why we need Kerry. I think he'd be able to get more UN help, which is the only real solution to all this.

9. What would they be wiping off their hands?

Oh right, the blood of the occupied.. What a sinister obscenity masked in righteousness. Indeed, that's why Kerry is needed.

10. war is a boon for the snuff industry
for every Abu Ghraib photo there's ten thousand home movies. Camcorders were a lot heavier in 1991.
