(UK) Government Backs Father's Bid to Visit Guantanamo Detainee
Government Backs Father's Bid to Visit Guantanamo Detainee

By Alex Thompson, PA News

The father of a man detained by the US at Guantanamo Bay will be supported in a bid to visit his son by the British Government, it emerged today.

Foreign Office officials confirmed they would back Azmat Begg in his application to see Moazzam, accompanied by a psychiatrist and doctor.

The detainee, from Sparkhill, Birmingham, was arrested in Pakistan and has been held in total isolation at the military base since January 2002.

He was due to face a military trial but this was suspended while discussions continued about his detention.

1. I hope they report
on whether the father gets to see the son, and if the doctors do. Wonder what they will allow the son to say?

2. I wonder if the detained son can say anything anymore.
I heard tonight on the Laura Flanders Show on AAR discussing a new play about G'mo, that many of the detainees weren't even captured in Afghanistan. They were kidnapped elsewhere and flown to Afghanistan for the soul purpose of being "interrogated" without the benefits of Ashcroft's laughable justice system. The play is not a fiction inspired by facts. It is all documented.

This is a disgrace. Swift justice is one thing, but interminable injustice is another.

Wake up America!
