....

Prosecutors said Flanery, of Ravenden Springs, assaulted the Maynard girl nearly three dozen times, beginning when she was 11 and ending when she was 13.

At the time of the incidents, Flanery was the pastor of a non-denominational church known as The Family of Christ. Documents filed in the case said the assaults occurred at the church, his residence behind the church and at a new home he was building.

The girl told investigators that Flanery had told her that God approved of a man having more than one woman, despite her age.

``It was biblical,'' she said.

3. Nope ...
They'll put on their happy face, drive down to the polls, push the button marked "George W. Bush", get their little "I Voted" sticker, then go back to the mobile home and finger-bang their daughters.

8. Not that far off the mark.
This article from one of the Ark local rags said Flanery abused his own daughter. Sick piece of crap.

Pocahontas, AR
Pastor in Rape Trial Listens to Daughter Testify Against Him

September 22,2004--Posted 6:00 pm CDT

Pocahontas, AR--The second day of the Donald Flanery trial had jurors listening to Flanery’s own daughter. But instead of supporting her father she testified against him. Flanery is accused of ten counts of rape on an underage teen. His daughter, Amanda Gray, says when she was fourteen Flanery touched, squeezed, and grabbed her private areas. Her testimony was at times just as graphic as the alleged victim’s testimony a day earlier.

Flanery maintains his innocence. His lawyer declined comment while the trial is occurring. Flanery himself was expected to testify late Wednesday and his testimony could continue into Thursday morning.

Prosecutors admit the case hinges on the credibility of their witnesses. Saying they have no physical evidence. They feel that the case can be won through the testimonies of the alleged victim, Flanery’s daughter, and other eye witness accounts. Flanery pastors the Family of Christ Church in Pocahontas. Several ex-members of the church testified to what they say they saw behind church doors and out in public.

The trial is expected to wrap on Thursday. Closing arguments are scheduled for the Thursday morning.

9. I hope at least he won't be able to vote on Election Day
I hope it is a felony charge so he loses his voting right. AND that when he is released from prison they forget to give him his discharge papers so he can't register to vote.

13. Ironic
Although I do not condone child sexual molestation ... I AM AGAINST IT! But, I find this ironic that none of this garbage was in the news until... guess who? Bingo! Shrub. Most of this stuff occurred in the 70's.... so why all of a sudden now? The Catholic church has always been independent of other churches, not any more. It appears they are holding hands with the other right wing nuts. There is something wrong with this picture.

I am finding the Catholic church weak lately. They have never been this way before.

Hmmmm, how about going after the corrupt Evangelical churches, money and sex graft?

I'm so tired of this crap, someone needs to go after these right wing nuts.

5. Oh, God! The congregation threatened the witnesses!
How much can DU'ers withstand, reading this?

Apparently the somewhat less intelligent members of the society have started believing that if an impulse occurs to you, you're supposed to indulge it, whatever it is!

Ah, growing up, learning self-control is for losers! God WANTS you to make a jackass of yourself!

7. These Saved people can't be saved
Wholly given over to medievalism, saturated in obedience, driven by group-think, half-mad from revelatory mysticism...it's pointless, I'm afraid.

And the statistics tell us this is a growing international phenomenon.

Fundamentalism. It's really gonna get your momma.

10. That congregation is totally sick!!!
What is with these people?

I suppose if they had their way the government would not be able to legislate what they can or can't do including underage sex. Are they trying to say that because it is not included in the 10 commandments that it is okay for them to do?????

11. It is like Robertson said of Bush, whatever they do good or bad is OK
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/2004-01-02-god-bush_x.htm

"The Lord has just blessed him," Robertson said of Bush. "I mean, he could make terrible mistakes and comes out of it. It doesn't make any difference what he does, good or bad, God picks him up because he's a man of prayer and God's blessing him."

As for the 10 commandments doesn't the one against adultery cover what this pervert did? Anyway it doesn't matter what the rules of their religion to people like this it does not apply to them, it is everyone else who is supposed to obey their rules.
