The brother of Ken Bigley has said he has new information the British hostage in Iraq is alive and appealed to Tony Blair to help save him.
Paul Bigley urged a Labour conference fringe meeting to press Mr Blair to ask George W Bush to lift his "blockade" on the release of women prisoners in Iraq.
His plea came after two British Muslim leaders seeking Mr Bigley's release met Iraqi president Ghazi Yawer...
Paul Bigley has previously criticised Mr Blair for "only going through the diplomatic instruction book" in his efforts to free his brother...
"Please could you on my behalf, on behalf of my brother somehow ask Mr Blair to pick up the bloody phone and call President Bush and ask him to take off the blockade on these women prisoners."
Mr Bigley said an Iraqi judge had decided two women prisoners should be released but the US president had prevented it happening.
He said the prime minister's "silence" was the "kiss of death" for his brother.
