Gasoline Prices Rise with Storm
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. average retail gasoline prices rose over the last two weeks as storms temporarily shut down oil production and refineries along with Gulf Coast, an industry analyst said on Sunday.

The national average for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was $1.91 a gallon in the two weeks surveyed through to Sept. 24, up about 5.32 cents per gallon, according to the nationwide Lundberg survey of about 8,000 gas stations.

"Much of this is hurricane and storm related," said survey editor Trilby Lundberg, who added that prices could steady or drift lower as production and refinery output return to normal.

"Certainly gasoline prices can be expected to stop rising when supplies normalize," she said. Crude oil futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange settled at an all-time high of $48.88 on Friday.

1. Suspicious

"Certainly gasoline prices can be expected to stop rising (notice he doesn't say fall) when supplies normalize.

How can it be that the price per barrel is tickling $50 and gasoline prices have not skyrocketed? I suspect this tying an increase to the storm and also tapping into reserves b/c of the storm allows the administration to keep prices from increasing.

Something is just not right with this situation - someone is absorbing the increase for now - will we see prices jump on November 3 - no matter who is elected?

Buckle up.

Unwilling to admit that what is really happening in Iraq
is
a national uprising against the occupation, the imperium

5. When you buy oil it takes a month or so to get from there to here.
Wait until November, the gas prices will rise again.

6. It's been over a month that the oil/barrel has been at an all time high
the only reason that it isn't up now is bushco* has done a
half way decent job of suppressing. At 50, it can no longer
be suppressed and will rise like the sun over the Vegas desert.
Just my guess!!

Nigerian Rebels to Widen Conflict, Target Agip

"We were forced into Nigeria by the British colonialists. We
are not Nigerians -- there is no such nation as Nigeria,"
Asari said. "Until there is a Sovereign National Conference
to decide these issues, we have no choice but to fight
until sovereignty is in our hands."

"We can't just go over and ... occupy (Russian) oil fields,"
says Gheit. "It's a different ballgame." Iraq, however,
was defenceless, utterly lacking, ironically, in weapons of
mass destruction. And its location, nestled in between
Saudi Arabia and Iran, made it an ideal place for an
ongoing military presence, from which the U.S. would be able
to control the entire Gulf region. Gheit smiles again: "Think
of Iraq as a military base with a very large oil reserve
underneath .... You can't ask for better than that."
