Clinton 'confirms' post-op speech
BBC News

Former US President Bill Clinton will make his first public appearance on 9 November, more than two months after having quadruple heart bypass surgery.

Mr Clinton would keep his appointment at the Hamilton College in New York, the Associated Press (AP) news agency quoted his office as saying.

The 58-year-old former leader has begun taking long walks as he recovers at his home in the city's Chappaqua suburb.

It is not clear whether he will resume his role in the presidential campaign.

1. We need him before then
Come on Bill, get your face in front of the cameras the week before Nov 2. The country needs reminding what a real leader looks like.

2. I'm sure he'd be up to saying a few words to a camera
He could even say a few words in a new ad - from his living room or something.

6. Agreed, he shouldn't put his health at risk for the campaign.
Rest up, Bill, it'll be good to have you back when you're ready.

7. I'm sure he's been on the phone to the campaign.
It doesn't take much exertion to talk on the phone, and I'm sure he is and will continue to do that.

Give him a break from this We need him before that! He gave you eight years in office, and 3 1/2 years since by still being out there for all of us. This is difficult surgery and takes time to fully recover.
