More raids hit alleged Fallujah insurgents (Another child dead)

BAGHDAD, Oct 06, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- U.S. warplanes bombed a suspected hideout for Sunni insurgents in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, Wednesday, causing several casualties.

The U.S. Army said the raid targeted a group of followers of Abu Misaab Zarqawi, the suspected leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, believed to be meeting at a hideout in the city.

Witnesses said the rockets slammed into a building in the residential Golan neighborhood, south of the city. They said at least three people were pulled from under the rubble, including a child.

The almost daily raids raise fears that efforts to reach a peaceful settlement with militants fighting the U.S. military presence in Iraq have failed.
