Bush Declares Kerry Can't Keep U.S. Safe
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CAMPAIGN_RDP?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=HOME

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) -- President Bush said Friday that the choice facing voters amounts to who can keep Americans safer from terrorists and that John Kerry does not measure up. Kerry's campaign accused the president of resorting to fearmongering out of desperation as the rivals exchanged accusations across battleground states.

"All progress on every other issue depends on the safety of our citizens," Bush told supporters in a sports arena in Wilkes-Barre, delivering a retooled stump speech that portrays Kerry as naive on terror and eager to raise taxes.

Kerry retorted that Bush had him wrong on both counts. "We need a president who defends America and who fights for the middle class at the same time," Kerry said in Milwaukee. "I guarantee you I will leave no stone unturned to protect this country I love."

5. Good Kerry reply to same old Bushit we have already heard over & over
And I'm sure lil Georgie also spouted his lame slogan "You can run but you can't hide". I wish someone would point out that Bush not only ran but hid in some unknown location (a skanky bar perhaps) when it came to fulfilling his National Guard duty.

22. There is only one problem with that
According to the NG point system he more than fullfilled his duty by accumulating the necessary points to receive an honorable discharge. If we are to believe that John Kerry's official records accurately reflect his wartime activities, which I do, then I believe that for the sake of intellectual honesty we have to extend this same line of reasoning to Bush. The record says he's good. Just like it says Kerry is good.

7. the thing i find peculiar about this is how they try to potray Kerry as
"retreating" from terror, while NONE of their attacks on Kerry about his war record had ANYTHING to do with retreat. bad planning on rove's part. they potrayed him as gung-ho, over the top, self-aggrandizing, shot-a-kid-in-the-back, and all kinds of other crap, but not once did they claim he ran away.

fact is, Kerry wanted to be in a swift boat, and he wasn't afraid of anything. rove REALLY screwed up this part of painting Kerry... they have conflicting messages going now.

what i really love is that new commercial for Kerry that shows bush as an ostrich. that's exactly as i see him. i used that imagery myself in comments months ago... it's great! and the wolf thing is really dark and all about fear... rove must be tired and confused. who wants to do something because they're scared? it's 2004, over 2 years after our last terror attack, and we're sick of fear. doesn't rove realize that?

Want to be safe, buy a gun, stay out of buildings.
Want more pay, stay in school, study hard, make somthing of yourself,
No Healthcare, get a better job, better yet start a business and choose your own healthcare.

27. oh, but BOY, it's not so simple
Republicans always make things look good on paper- be they easy or impossibly hard.

For the first point, WTF?

For the second point, tell that to the guy with the Master's degree who did both points two and three, and yet still has no healthcare, a business struggling in a stagnant economy, or worse, "has a job"- or two, or three- flipping burgers.

Never mind, I wasting DU's bandwidth.

32. I am that guy
And its still nobody's problem but my own. Who wants to hire someone who can't take responsibility for their own sucess or failure? They sure are not going to want to give that person responsibility for part of their business, or if they do they will regret it.

"Why didn't you meet sales projections last month?"
"Bush."

The worse thing that could happen to these people would be a Kerry victory, because then they won't have Bush to blame.

And whats wrong with buying a gun. I have one. The terrorist haven't flown into any buildings where I have stayed and they haven't tried to cut my damn head off. Therefore buying and carrying a gun is not only a good thing for me personally but has a residual effect for those around me. Everyone benefits. Plus the folks at the gun factories have high paying steady work.

Oooh, Bush didn't keep us safe on 9/11.

This forum sounds like a bunch of little girls ruminating about the boogey man. Stop wetting your pants about who is going to keep us safe. Statistically the chances of any one of us dieing at the hands of terrorist is less than winning the stinking powerball lottery.

Bush failed on 9/11 but so did Clinton on at least half a dozen other attacts. Even the Demi-God RONALD REAGAN failed to respond adaquately to the Marine barracks bombing in 83. As I remember his response was to attact Grenada.

26. Yep! This Terrorsim bunk is bunk!
They got one good shot in on 9/11. But the odds of them getting another hit is phenominnal in the same way. Can they walk across our borders and blow up a nuclear plant. Yes, with no problems.

34. Warnings
He also got a warning in July, June, May, April, March, February, January.

Bill Clinton also got warnings evertime his national security team met which was much less frequent.

The point is the intellegence community has to play CYA so they "Warn" at every opportunity. Then later after the attact they can say. "Oh but we warned you." They don't mention the fact that the warning was one of several hundred, that also seemed as likely at the time.

37. Right after the Inaug of Jan 2001, Bush recieved the Hart/Rudman
Commission Report addressing its findings after 2 years of HARD WORK and 45 Million$$$ . This Commissions results addressed TERRORism and How to reduce its threat, how and where to beef up security, etc. The fact remains, By rejecting the report, Bush showed his concern for America.

By NOT IMMEDIATELY coming up an alternate plan... he even showed more disdain for Americans.

He offered us Cheney, "He will be our Terrorist Security Czar"

FOR 8 MONTHS BOTH OF THEM SLEPT AT THE WHEEL.

38. Said the president that took a month long vacation prior to 911
Said the president that ignored a mountain of intelligence data that predicted an imminent Al Quida attack on America. Said the president that sat like a scared little boy in a kindergarten room for minutes on end after being told that America was under attack. Said the president that whisked his Saudi Buddies out the of the country when all planes were grounded after 911 with little to no investigation by the FBI. Said the president that let Bin Laden escape and attacked a country that had nothing to do with 911.

It's amazing what the media has let this disgraceful, moronic, lying
Coward in Chief get away with since 911.

Most Americans are completely in the dark about this criminal administration.

Kerry needs to pound away on this in the closing days of the election.
