WP: It's Too Late to Change The Minds of Some Voters(Record Absentee)
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A55598-2004Oct22?language=printer

<snip>

As of Friday afternoon, more than 1.3 million people had voted in eight of the swing states, records indicate. Both parties are making a huge effort to get their supporters to the polls early and are reading the tea leaves to decide what, if anything, the early turnout numbers show.

In New Mexico and Nevada, about a tenth of the electorate is already "in the bank," in campaign parlance. Republicans had cast close to the same number of early votes as Democrats in the Las Vegas area, where about 70 percent of Nevada's population resides, while Democrats were running strong in the Reno area, historically a Republican stronghold.

In Iowa, where Democrats have long had an advantage in early voting, more than 200,000 ballots had been cast as of the start of this week.

In Florida, a sampling of eight counties showed a consistent pattern of Democrats turning out to cast early ballots in greater proportion than their share of registered voters, while Republicans were going to the early voting sites at or below what their registration percentages would suggest.

7. vote early
Great to be done so you can help in other ways on election day. Also, I don't mind intimidating the GOP with high Dem turnout!!!

3. Enjoy the spin....
all this shows is a trend...a trend that the media wont admit until they have to come Nov 3. that trend is that the majority of americans actually are more intelligent than our current administration-driven media would allow you to believe...and that is that John Kerry will win this election by more votes than rove & co can buy or steal. FUCK YOU BUSH!!! You're Fired!

4. This is precisely why NON-partisan registration should be the norm
Early voting only gives the people in charge a heads up, so they know approximately how many votes they might "need"..

5. I agree, and it's probably just a GOP strategy to galvanize their voters
Today's Stars and Stripes headlines read, "Half of DoD Europe voters haven't cast ballots yet--with 11 days left military tries to speed voting"

Bush figures his largest percentage of votes will come from the military, and they live in key states.

6. It could backfire however........
If they feel that the election is decided they won't go out at all.

8. I voted by absentee ballot this week
I saw that envelope as a tactical precision strike delivered against the Idiot Machine. Just in case you are wondering, it went to California.

Kerry, baby.
