Further Abuse at Abu Ghraib Detailed - ACLU forces US to Disclose Records
http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2004/10/23/further_abuse_at_abu_ghraib_detailed/

WASHINGTON -- Government documents made public Thursday provide fresh details about allegations of abuse by guards at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and other detention facilities in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

They include incidents in which a female prisoner was sexually humiliated by US military intelligence officers and a male inmate was shot at to force cooperation...

...The US documents, obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union under court order, include an internal FBI memo from last May that shows bureau employees based at Abu Ghraib witnessed a number of troubling incidents, but ''did not believe rose to the level of misconduct or mistreatment."

The materials also describe the deaths of three Abu Ghraib prisoners, all reportedly of heart attacks, within days of each other in August 2003, weeks before the now-infamous episodes of photographed abuse began occurring at the prison.

I wonder if those videotapes of which Seymour Hersh has reported will ever be shown?

2. I don't think anyone wonders why...
It's just that so many Bush/Cheney followers not only don't care that so many people in the world despise us, but they see it as a badge of honor. "They hate us for our freedom."

Truly sick.

3. WHEN is Hersh going to write that story...
....about children being sodomized, women sending messages to their husbands and fathers asking that they be killed because they've been defiled, the horrible screams which are supposedly on tape?

C'mon, Seymour, you'd better get this one out!

4. Remember how the IRAQIS treated the US POWS?
They took GOOD CARE of Jessica Lynch.
They took GOOD CARE of the others in that group.
They even apologized for searching one of the POWS
after they realised that she was a woman.

Meanwhile, the American Red Cross,
(which is owned and operated by Johnson & Johnson)
did Bush-knows-what with that Liberty Fund
and has NEVER said anything negative
about the bombing of Afghan Red Cross warehouses.

All the ARC wants to do is to destoy
the entire GLOBAL Red Cross Organisation,
and wipe out the Geneva Conventions,
because it has proved impossible to gain international recognition for a certain's nation's alternative to the Red Cross emblem.

Pity the American servicmen
who think that that the American Red Cross
gives even a fraction of a damn about their well-being.
They will all have to depend on the auspices of foreigners
who have routinely proved to be far more merciful.

And pity the people of Fallujah,
who are being slaughtered by the score
because they dared to defend themselves
from Blackwater mercenaries.

5. We actually have more of the pictures
But they're unverified, and extremely sexually explicit. This new report makes me feel it a bit more needed to produce them, for they seem to document some of the charges laid out here. Any advice on verification?

6. Do you have any sources inside the military?
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 04:47 PM by calimary
So many of our troops over there have cameras and cell phone/camera gizmos over there. And gossip is thick. Talk gets around. Know anybody just back from Iraq? Or anybody who knows someone like that, whom you could ask? Anybody's mom, or girlfriend or wife? Perhaps you could message vetwife or Mari333 - they've had their ear to the ground. Or message the folks at the Military Families Speak Out site? Somebody there has GOT to know something. I'd put feelers out. Could you retrace the path on which you got these photos in the first place?

Would love to know how this turns out.

What I REALLY want to know is the contents of that CIA report that the White House has Porter Goss sitting on. THAT should be brought out, ASAP.

7. Yes.
But these came independently. We're working to finish our anthrax series and then I'm looking into the whole 'we never got the equipment we needed' scandal in Iraq.

I think these photos we have have been acquired by the Washington Post, but they are too explicit for print, and we'll probably black parts of them out -- though they'll still obviously reveal some explicit situations. I'm going to try to verify them through some contacts we have.

8. I Wonder when the Anal rape scene will be Aired
A young man screaming as his anus is savagely brutalized. As some "civilian contract worker" lays the "lumber" to him.
