4. The Mandate of Heaven again
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 11:23 PM by chookie
The ancients believed in a universal harmony -- if rulers ruled well, the world would function smoothly.

If the rulers were immoral, and went against the laws of universal harmony, their bad leadership would be evident in unnatural portents -- for example, 4 successive hurricanes striking the prefect of the emperor's brother, or the sudden success of an ill-fated sports team from the city of the rival on the night of a lunar eclipse visible throughout most of the earth....

It's not just us, but the very planet and the heavens that are PUKING to see these monsters in power, and showing us in all these dramatic signs.

Keep working. Happy days will be here again soon, if we do.

7. Well, a true trifecta would have had the Red Sox going down..
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 12:12 AM by JackDragna
..being that they're a big-payroll, free-agent buying monstrosity like the Yankees..if, say, the San Diego Padres or some such team had won the World Series, I'd feel better about the planets being behind Mr. Kerry. :)

..I'm just being contrary. Hell, if this is a prelude of Kerry winning the election, I'll kiss Manny Ramirez.

11. But will Manny pucker up?
I strongly believe that the BOSOX win is a good omen. The fact that it was a sweep makes it even more sweet. Like them or not (and I like them, alot) they are a TEAM--they like each other and they are all highly motivated to achieve a singular goal. They are a bunch of "idiots" to quote Johnny D, who like to play baseball.

Smart "idiots" those Red Sox!

And everyone was ready to write them off. EAGER to so do, in fact. But they proved them all wrong. DECISIVELY.

It's a metaphor for JFK. How many times has he been counted out? How many times has he kicked butt? The primary, the three debates...he knows how and when to punch for major effect.

He's gonna win, just like the Sox.
