Nader says debate over explosives is "marginal"
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 01:44 PM by stupidgit
Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader is Iowa today. In a phone interview with Radio Iowa prior to his appearance in Ames, Nader says all the talk about whether explosives are missing in Iraq is a marginal issue designed to distract voters. He says the two parties love to spar over those issues, "because then they don't have to face up to the needs of 47-million workers who work fulltime getting a wage they can live on."

Marginal?? I think that for a president who claims to be making the world safer and is found to have not protected 3/4 million pounds of explosives which are now missing and probably in the hands of insurgents, I think it's a very important issue, not "marginal".

Nader's the marginal one, unfortunately he's in the margin of error.

This comic strip is mostly devoted to the antics of Ernie, who's got a toaster fetish, and his Uncle Ernie, member of the nefarious Piranha club. But this week has been devoted to the "Nader presidency"

18. Nader seems to like to be dismissive.
I read once that he referred to the issues of gay rights and abortion as "gonad politics". It would be interesting to see how many issues Nader could tackle if he were president. Which will never happen.

32. Not so sure about part of shrubco

Ralph is very focused, doesn't care who gives him shit.

I think he has a particular set of convictions that he believes in, and I suspect that he figures that if the Republicans want to boost him to further their own agenda, that's fine with him, because it gives him the opportunity to get his message out.

I think Ralph is firmly intent on changing the system.

I regret that he doesn't recognize what has happened in the last four years and why he's a liability to America right now.

The same focus and singlemindedness that served him well in the 70s (or was it 60s?), is still there, but misaimed. Would that he be for exposing corruption in government, he could lead a charge against Bush.

Maybe he's in his own little bubble as he gets older? It can be tiring being politically involved; maybe he doesn't research stuff any more, maybe he's not paying attention.

It could be a lot of things (and jeez, don't think I support him), and I'm sure he knows he's being used by Bushco, but as long as it furthers his agenda, I don't think he cares. I'm not sure he's part of Bushco, though.

Butchaneverknow.

42. WAR was for BushCo's ends
and the Democrats inability or unwillingness to stand up against it.

Saddam Hussein was as much of a threat as Fidel Castro is. IOW, no threat at all.

I don't remember Nader protesting the war too much either, but I DO remember that maybe 3 Democrats ever went to an anti-war rally. This is definitely reflected in the platform.

46. If Bush manages to win this election ...
... we will see just how 'dedicated' Nader is. Just how 'bold' he is. My guess? He will disappear yet again, not lifting a finger to stop or derail a second Bush administration.

He will sit on his 'convictions' and shut his mouth, like he's done for the last four years outside of election periods. If he wants to be a real force, he should get his worthless hide on a charter plane and lead a march on Guantanamo Bay, or lead a delegation of independent journalists on a massive fact finding tour in Iraq or go on a hunger strike. But he hasn't got the guts or the vision anymore. Maybe he never did.

Theodore Geisel was a better, more effective and more dedicated progressive liberal than Nader ever was, without playing the part of a spoiler in politics, and he never worn his ego on his sleeve.

I guess Nader feels comfortable with his millions of dollars and his bodyguards.. but the REST of us aren't RESTING right now, thinking about 380 TONS of explosives in the hands of... ?????? Ask the families of those killed by the car bombs in Iraq, ask the Lockerbie families, if explosives like that are a BIG DEAL.

What an irrelevant dick. What does he think is SOOO much more important than Bush's deadly incompetence??
