SBC Could Cut 20,000 Jobs
SBC Communications Inc., the second-largest U.S. local-phone company, might cut as many as 20,000 jobs to reduce costs in its declining wire-line business, Lehman Brothers analyst Blake Bath wrote in a note to clients.

SBC has too many employees for the number of local-access lines it has, Bath said in an interview. SBC has about 29 employees per 10,000 local lines, more than the industry average of 25, he said. The company could save $600 million to $1.2 billion a year by reducing its work force by 10,000 to 20,000 people, Bath wrote."

1. Rock on!!!!
The American Public has spoken, the will of the people has been done. These layoffs were voted for just this past Tuesday. Let us rejoice that the will of the people has been done. Let us remind all of those people that their will has been done.

And don't worry about these workers. Bush said repeatedly that the No Child Left Behind act would address all of their woes.

3. Exactly! How exciting that the will of the American people is being done!
It's so nice to see democracy in action, isn't it? You vote for war and unemployment on Tuesday and *BAM* you lose your job by the end of the week and maybe, if you're all extra good, you'll get an invasion of Syria by next week!

This is all terrific, and the main thing is that those awful gays aren't getting married anymore.

W00t!

(Can I wake up now?)

4. I am employed by SBC, for now...
I am a 20 year employee of Illinois Bell/Ameritech/SBC. I expect to be unemployed the day before Christmas. They are, after all based in San Antonio, TX. Friends of * country. Since I am so stupid that I am losing my job, maybe I can get a Pell grant to go Community College so I can get one of those 21st Century jobs. I am also going to be practicing saying "would you like fries with that?"

Edit: I'm terribly sorry, Weezy. That swinging bush axe-pendulum is just getting closer and closer to everyone's throat.
