Mulroney urges Bush to repair relations

Halifax -- It's time for U.S. President George W. Bush to begin repairing the rift with Canada and other countries opposed to the war in Iraq, says former prime minister Brian Mulroney.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday night, Mr. Mulroney urged Mr. Bush to "reach out to all leading countries of world" and begin easing the diplomatic strain caused by the invasion.

"It's time to wipe the slate clean and start anew," the former Conservative prime minister said after a fund-raising dinner in Halifax.

"It's important as the president, as the biggest kid on the block, to initiate that process with Canada, with France, with Germany, and so on around the world."
