4. Master Sergeant Steve Auchman
He was in the Air Force "but was assigned as a radio communications specialist with the Army" This speaks volumes about what is really going on over there. The military doesn't "cross-pollinate" personnel unless they have a great shortage. Air Force personnel aren't trained for combat the same way that U.S. Army personnel are trained for combat. This could mean two things: 1. He was ill prepared and ill trained or 2. radio communication specialists don't usually occupy forward positions, so we can conceive that his position was over run, implying that the enemy combatants are of a far greater strength than we have been led to believe. Either way he should never have been there and my condolences go out to his family and friends.

6. training cut short
i don't know if this was the case in the example above, but i did read awhile back (posted here) that the combat training program had been cut in half (something like from 12 weeks to 6 -- i'm sure someone has the info or link) so as to get troops in the field asap.

... just more shitting on the troops from *

7. May the God who Bush claims to know personally forgive him.
Of course, Bush would have to ask forgiveness first. And that's about as likely as that proverbial snowball in hell. One only wishes Bush could go there to check it out--the sooner the better. Oh, and all his evil cronies, too, starting with Cheney, Rove, Wolfowitz...yeah, all of 'em.

8. Lonny Dion Wells
Lonny Wells joined the Marines 10 years ago and loved the Corps, although he was set to get out next year. Larry Wells said his son was immensely proud of being a Marine.

Larry Wells started getting nervous for his children when his daughter, who had joined the Army, was sent to Iraq. Wells has experience in the military, and he didn't like what he was seeing in Iraq, even after his daughter came back home because of an injury.

"I was in the Navy, over in Vietnam," Wells said. "That's all Iraq is too, another Vietnam."
>snip<

Wells said his son and many other Marines were concerned about the direction the war was taking, but they were ready to do their duty and fight for their country.
