AFTER 9/11

Fear destroys what bin Laden could not

ROBERT STEINBACK

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/opinion/13487511.htm

One wonders if Osama bin Laden didn't win after all. He ruined the America that existed on 9/11. But he had help.

If, back in 2001, anyone had told me that four years after bin Laden's attack our president would admit that he broke U.S. law against domestic spying and ignored the Constitution -- and then expect the American people to congratulate him for it -- I would have presumed the girders of our very Republic had crumbled.

(snip)

All of these things have happened. And yet a large portion of this country appears more concerned that saying "Happy Holidays" could be a disguised attack on Christianity.

(snip)

Ultimately, our best defense against attack -- any attack, of any sort -- is holding fast and fearlessly to the ideals upon which this nation was built. Bush clearly doesn't understand or respect that. Do we?

3. ABSOLUTELY!!!! Without a boogeyman, what need is there for a war?
It's so obvious to some, yet oblivious to others... We find Saddam in a hole so that we can say "we got him" because we didn't find WMD (knowing they never existed).

* actually says that OBL is not high on his list of priorities (I just don't spend that much time thinking about him). This allows him to remain "on the loose" enough to scare the mindless into the need for this war, and now, for all of the breaches of civil liberties and crimes against the Constitution being committed by this administration.

I know this is a rhetorical question that has been asked a million times here, but when ALL of us wake up and see this sham for what it is? How do you ignore the obvious and cling to that which is totally illogical and ridiculous?
