BUSH RULES OUT ‘GRACEFUL EXIT’ - FOR HIMSELF AND CHENEY
Addressing the increasing violence and chaos in Iraq, President Bush announced today that there would no “graceful exit” for U.S. troops, and also, more significantly, no “graceful exit” from office for either the Vice President or himself.

“We’re gonna’ stay until the job gets done,” Bush insisted, “regardless of any timetables for the next Presidential election.” Bush added that he couldn’t even gracefully exit China when he tried, so why expect him to leave a nice cushy job like President.

Bush further asserted that according to a secret opinion given to him by Attorney General Gonzales, Bush had the power during wartime to suspend the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Constitution — governing term limits for Presidents – along with the First, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendments as well.

The President contended “that we’d be sending the wrong message to the terrorists if Cheney and I just ‘cut and run,’ just like the Democrat party wants us to do.”

1. Don't Give Them Ideas! Bite Your Tongue!
Too damn close to reality for my tastes.

I see the following scenarios as most likely:

1) Poppy takes out Dumbya and/or Cheney (assassination IS his MO): Just as we lost JFK, RFK, and MLK when they inconvenienced the BFEE, so too might we lose one or both of our current embarrassments.

I see it play out thusly: Poppy makes a demand as Godfather, Dim Son demurs, Poppy shorts out Cheney's pacemaker, new stoooge installed as VP, Dim Son crumbles (game over); or not: Poppy then takes out Son, because that's less embarrassing than committing him to mental hospital, and one can always try to go for martyrdom and make a silk purse out of the sow's ear...after all, Jeb needs his turn!

Chances of this happening: 1 in 2, and odds rising daily, based on Poppy's state of health and the shape of the world.

2) Nancy Pelosi was only being disengenuous when she took impeachment off the table (would this grandmother of 6 lie to you? She is a politician, after all. They get dispensation for lies that don't actually kill anybody...directly):

After 6 months of investigations by various committtees (all independent of the Speaker, and perhaps even "protested" by her) designed to look completely normal and unthreatening, and massive amounts of press finally breaking the Code of Silence that surrounded and protected the GOP for so long, several Senators decide to spend more time with their families. They are replaced by either Democrats or GOPpers who can read the writing on the wall. Suddenly, there are 67 votes to convict, and impeachment hits the fast lane. Bush and Cheney are thrown out of office as an early 2007 Xmas present, Nancy Pelosi reluctantly takes on the Presidency, boots Condi back to Stanford (which decides not to take her), and begins to right the Ship of State. The 2008 elections give her a gracious way to get out, or to run for real, if that is her wish.

The added bonus to this is Hillary is shown once and for all as the calculating fool that she is, and Obama gets a little time to "mature". Howard Dean gets a real shot at the Presidency, and things get noticeably better noticeably fast.

Chances of this happpening (by accident or design) increasing exponentially, up to 30% right now.
