W.R. Marshall-The rat makes his move
"The biggest rat of all has deserted the sinking ship. No, it’s not the vice president - pure evil usually takes the shape of a bat or a wolf, and the big horned goat is very popular in certain regions, but not a rat. Rats are dirty little creatures that carry disease and occasionally manage to lug about a world shaping pestilence like the Black Death that ravaged Europe in the 14th century."

1. King rat indeed!

From Library Journal

King Rat is named after the central character in Clavell's spellbinding masterpiece about the brutality of prison camp life in Japanese-occupied, World War II Malaya. The King, an American corporal, seeks to dominate both captives and captors by his courage, profound insight into human frailties, and pragmatic American business techniques in a class-ridden society where Japanese and British actions are bound by bankrupt codes of "honor." The novel, originally published in 1962, is made more engrossing by flashbacks to the home front. Reader David Chase superbly transfers Clavell's genius as a writer to this superb audio. His skill lies in communicating the author's uproarious black humor and in his fabulous timing and phraseology. Highly recommended.

2. So what’s a rat to do?

One option is to find another half-witted Republican candidate - of which there is no shortage - and make him king. (It’s always a “him” with these folks.) But think about it, advising a flip-flopping former governor or helping yet another conservative actor to the White House pales when compared to the singular success of turning a drunken frat boy into the most powerful man on earth.

I would bet on option one.
