Oh My! - its a filibuster

I’m a bit confused, or maybe just call me naïve. After all I’ve only been following politics since I was sixteen.

Does anyone remember just a short time ago, when the Democrats threatened to filibuster certain administration appointments, and the Republicans had a hissy-fit because the “minority party” was holding the congress hostage and refusing to allow a “straight up or down vote”? They ranted and raved on about the “obstructionist Democrats” who were thwarting the will of the people.

Well golly gee! Kinda seems the foot is in the other mouth now, doesn’t it? But where are the Dems? They’re oh so quiet when they should be shouting “Hypocrite” from the top of the Washington monument. I haven’t quite figured out what they’re afraid of, other than their own shadows. I fear that unless they start to behave like, pardon my Yiddish, Mensches, they are going to be caught in a backlash of their own making. We can see it right here on DU.

I think the best thing the Dems could do now is ignore the “gentlemen’s agreement” on filibustering, and make the Republican carry through on their threats. Let the country see these “Patriotic” members speechify against Habeas Corpus and allowing the troops to have adequate rest before going back to hell. Make them go on the record, not just use the threat where no one can see.

Only by pointing out over and over and over and over the hypocrisy of the Republican party line can the Dems hope to overcome the well oiled and vociferous noise machine of the Bush administration and hope to get the truth out.

10. Yes I remember! I also remember how junior and his dick came out

to the American people and saying all they wanted was a straight up and down vote. And I remember how Bill Frist scared the Dem's with nuking the filibuster and how Harry Reid backed down from a filibuster.
