1. He's always been pro-Lincoln
Lincoln Savings & Loan, that is. Everyone here should be well aware that one of his first acts on arrival in the Senate in 1987 was to get fully involved in shilling for Charles Keating of Lincoln Savings and Loan. They were the poster children for the Savings & Loan scandal that cost the government billions. And today's mortgage meltdown wouldn't have been possible without all the groundbreaking work they did to deregulate the home mortgage business.
