Retailers Who Don't Support GOP Should Be Shot
Home Depot Founder: Retailers Who Don't Support GOP "Should Be Shot"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/19/home-depot-founder-retail_n_144863.html

This is what Home Depot's founder Bernie Marcus said on a conference call yesterday:

"If a retailer has not gotten involved with this, if he has not spent money on this election, if he has not sent money to Norm Coleman and these other guys," Mr. Marcus said, apparently referring to Republican senators facing tough re-election fights, then those retailers "should be shot; should be thrown out of their goddamn jobs."

1. Thanks for posting this.
I'll be sure and boycott them now. I prefer smaller mom and pop hardware stores anyway.

9. Bernie has no role in the company anymore.
He's just talking out his ass here, and I think he resents the fact that nobody listens to him.

5. ...except for "The Original Spinner"...
It's a tool for electricians used to screw on wire nuts (plus, it's a great quick-driver for screws).

Home Depot is in talks to buy the exclusive rights from a guy I work with. He's invested years and tens of thousands of dollars in this tool, and it's finally paying off...he's going to make a fortune on this :)

4. I used to give Marcus a pass...
because he does give a good bit of money to things that make a difference. He has been a benefactor for Shepherd Spinal Center for quite some time.

But this has taken me over the edge with him. No more Orange! It is all Blue from here!

:hurts:

7. There are exactly two retail stores within 5 miles of my house...
Home Depot and Wal Mart. There's also a restaurant where the local republican committee holds its meetings. I need to move.

8. Bernie is irrelevant.
He's no longer the CEO, the chairman, or even a board member.

And even HE didn't donate to Coleman, so I don't know why he thinks he can dump on the current executive leadership of Home Depot. If I had to guess, I'd say he resents the fact that he doesn't have much of a say in the company anymore.
