Russia, China Call For Space Weapons Ban
GENEVA, Switzerland, Mar 7, 2009 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Russia and China say they want all countries to unite in declaring outer space off limits to weapons.

"Prevention of an arms race in space will contribute to ensuring the predictability of the strategic situation and preserving the orbital property," Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, said Saturday.

Speaking at a disarmament conference in Geneva, Switzerland, Lavrov and Chinese officials said any country using space for civilian and business purposes should be interested in keeping it free of weapons, RIA Novosti reported.

Lavrov also called for the world's countries to unite against missile expansion on Earth.

1. Wow, sounds like the rest of the world wants Peace in our life time.
I wonder what excuses our war mongers will come up with to try to shut it down?

2. War is never good
And I think that most leaders of the industrialized nations no that, and want to see peace. It's when we have one those leaders that is crazy like Bush was that causes a problem and the other countries feel the need to defend themselves from attacks. It was obvious that Bush didn't care about other peoples rights when he invaded Iraq, and that sent a message that had nothing to do with peace! With Obama maybe the time "will come" in our life that we can see real peace in the world, one can only hope!
