2. Don't Laugh!

My local daily eliminated the Business section entirely, since after 8 years of Depression, there isn't any left in Michigan. Most days the paper is 16 sheets or less--too big for a paper airplane, not big enough for a paper carrier to throw in a steady breeze.

They eliminated most news coverage during the Bush years (they endorsed W), and the advertising has fallen to negligible since Christmas, so there we are, wondering why they even bother to go to press.

And you heard about the Detroit News and Free Press dropping several days of the week...

3. One Puny Paper Here

In my major city, we're down to one newspaper. That newspaper has become so puny that even die hard loyalists are complaining. The paper has combined some sections. I expect it to go under in the near future. I confess that I gave up my subscription long ago.
