Why did Porter Goss finger Jane Harman?

... It looks as if the decision to target Harman was initiated by her old nemesis Goss, the Intel committee chairman who had gone on to the top CIA job.

Initiated. As in, he apparently had the idea himself. As in, he apparently hated her guts.

Piecing this doozy together requires jumping from the lede in the NYT story, way way down. But look ...

4. Read the Article Closely

The title shouldn't be "Why did Porter Goss finger Jane Harman?" But "Why didn't Alberto Gonzales finger Jane Harman?" The author attributes a grand conspiracy, The FBI,the CIA,a political vendetta, The New York Times and even the FISA courts!

It is asserted that Harmon was simply asked to request leniency for another Israeli spy and even then she didn't not do it. Rod Blagovich simply asked for campaign contributions and didn't even get them!

Ask John McCain about private meetings, let alone phone conversations with foreign agents. Are we to accept that Harmon didn't know who she was talking to?Now if she had been speaking to Korean agents or Chinese Agents. Anyone rememberWen Ho Lee? Mr. Lee was accused of trading with Chinese agents, he lost his job and went to prison and in the end was vindicated. Ms. Harman is paid to represent the interests of the people of the United States letgitimate business goes on in the office in front of witnesses.
