Celebreality?: Hollywood drama will never be breaking news (student echos call of retired Justices)
Thursday, March 29, 2007 By Josslyn Allers

The sky is falling on our TV screens/mass hysteria for the American dream/the Antichrist is coming to kill your young/load your firearms because security is a warm, warm gun…

This Scarlet lyric depicts a chilly dystopia of a fictional society that has gone down the wrong path of violence and crime to the point of constant fear.

In our world of never-ending sunshine and rainbows (the products of global warming), why pay attention to anything outside our bubble of evening sitcoms and Facebook?

Can anybody tell me about the genocide currently taking place in Darfur? No? I bet you know the date, time and place of Justin Timberlake’s next concert.

Our country is in the middle of a war. What is the name of the other country’s president? What is the name of any country’s president? Angelina Jolie does not count because she is an ambassador, not a president.
