Not Another Damn Dime!!!!!! Get the Hell out of Here!!!!!

I got a disgusting email today, and I replied back. I doubt I get a response though... Follow me below the jump to check it out....

fromdabak's diary :: :: The following is an email that I received today.....

Dear Friend,

Vice President Biden is right. Republicans have made their priorities clear, and solving the nation's problems isn't high on the list. President Obama's change agenda is dead if Democrats lose. That's a fact.

We have a tough fight ahead. History is against us - only three times since the Civil War has the party holding the White House gained seats in midterm elections. And whipping the base into an anti-government frenzy is paying off handsomely for GOP fundraisers.

That's the bad news. But here's why we will win in 2010: Nobody beats our donors. Nobody. Across the country, Democrats are standing up. We have thousands more grassroots supporters than ever before, and each and every one is making a difference.

Help make the lasting change we voted for in November a reality. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is only 30 hours away from our crucial end-of-quarter deadline, and we have $319,536 left to meet our goal. If you give today, a group of senators will match every dollar, effectively doubling your impact.

Click here to give $5 or more to the DSCC today. Every dollar will pay off in 2010!

Why is meeting this goal so important? Because perception is everything in politics.

Our $3 million goal is ambitious. It's the highest bar we've set for ourselves yet on the road to 2010. When we meet - or exceed - it, it will serve as a signal to Republicans. It shows our strength. It lets them know that by targeting our seats, they're itching for a fight.

Falling short is not an option. The Republicans would seize on the news as evidence of weakness. That would set off a vicious circle. They're empowered, they attract attention, they attract money, they win.

We can't let that happen. We won't let that happen. But we need your help.

Your gift will make sure we have the resources needed to build winning campaigns, defend our incumbents and turn seats from red to blue. And if you donate today, each dollar you give will be matched. That doubles your impact.

Click here to give $5 or more to the DSCC today. Every dollar will pay off in 2010!

The threat is real. But so is the opportunity. And with you on our side, I like our chances.

Sincerely,

Bob Menendez

Here is my response....

Sir,

Do not send me another email from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee until you either get rid of the Republicans in your caucus (i.e. Blanche Lincoln, Bill Nelson, Ben Nelson, Evan Bayh, Joseph Lieberman, Max Baucus, etc.) or get them to vote like true Democrats.

I have no time or money to donate money to support an institution that I am against, Conservative Legislation. If I wanted the status quo, I would not have donated my time, energy, and money in 2008. I could have done other things, like not get my two young sons get interested in politics. I could have let them know that the game of life is stacked against people like them. I could have taught them life lessons, like how to compromise their values. They could have learned how to sell out to corporate interest by emailing your colleagues to teach them, since they have the practice down pat.

Why are you asking Americans for money anyway? We are still in a terrible economic downturn, and the only people that seem to be making any money is the financial services industry that took away any money that I could have provided you with their bailouts. They received loans at 0% interest, while at the same time they are raising our interest rates to 30%+. Where is the justice in that? Why aren't you emailing your real constituents on Wall Street, or in board rooms across the nation?

Why aren't we on the path to campaign finance reform? Why is it so hard to figure out that until we have true campaign finance reform, we will continue to have elected representatives that vote money instead of what is right. The Democratic Senators that I noted are the biggest recipients of insurance corporations campaign funding. No wonder why we can't get real health-care reform.

In conclusion, I supported the President during the election last year with my time, energy, and dollars. I was "counseled" by my military leadership on some misinterpretation of my support (since I am in the military). I went above and beyond the call to help get this President into office, but as of right now all I hear is excuses from Senate leadership on how things are hard to change. You have 60 votes, make it happen! Don't ask people that are struggling for money to support you or your Democratic peers when in the end all you are going to do is support the corporations that are holding them hostage. So I close this letter by letting you know that, the "birthers", "deathers", and "town-hallers" aren't the only people that are angry, Democratic supporters are just as angry, and we have more people.

V/R,

1. That's pretty much the way I feel.
My money and effort will go to individuals who stand up for the people-not the corporations.

2. We've been infected with the cancer of rightwingerism for decades...
And it's clear this body, the U.S., is still infected. When are we going to get the strength to beat the right wing infection that has done so much harm for so many decades, down to size?

3. I just did the unsubscribe thing
It was easier on my blood pressure and I really don't think they would read what I wrote anyway.

What you in your email was superb, but I don't think they will read it.

4. Get them to eat the cost of self-addressed stamped envelopes...

I think ultimately they measure how much postage costs they have to pay versus how many donations they get back. I remember in previous elections they were pleading people to put their own stamps on the envelopes to help them save costs, but I think it was more to hide the true discontent of many sending in no donations with these envelopes if they were measuring these statistics.

If enough of us do that, then they maybe they'll start to get the message even if the front line just throws our letters out before they get to higher ups.

7. Thank you for your eloquence.
I'll be using some iteration of your response to reply to the (numerous, daily) fund requests that hit my inbox.

10. I'm always amazed at the Democratic party
Maybe it's because I come from Canada. Here, when you join a party, you implicitly adopt the official party position on whatever the leadership decides. There is no straying from the party line.

That doesn't mean that parties leaders are dictatorial. The policy process is very democratic and inclusive.

But once the general strategy is figured out, there are very few unpredictable votes and the leaders can speak with authority and power.

Perhaps the 2-party system MUST allow for more leeway and individual thinking. But there should at least be a minimum standard for what a Democrat should be.
