Dr. Tiller's Assassin Complains That Life Is Unfair

Aw, poor baby:

The man who killed Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller has filed a petition complaining that his rights have been violated and asking to be released from custody.

The man who carefully planned the assassination of Dr. George Tiller and then gunned him down in his church thinks that the mean ol' judge is being unfair to him. Why?

In the 24-page petition — seven of the pages handwritten — Roeder said that the judge’s imposition of a $20 million bond “along with a suggestion that I might enact ‘more’ violence if I make bond demonstrates heightened disregard for the presumption of my innocence.”

Huh. Can't imagine why the judge thought Roeder might "enact more violence." Maybe because Roeder admitted to killing Dr. Tiller and, when asked if he would do it again, responded:

"We all have a sense of duty and obligation to protect innocent life. If anybody is in a situation where they can, I think it is their obligation."

And this:

"I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal," Roeder said. When asked by the AP what he meant and if he was referring to another shooting, he refused to elaborate further.

But that's not Roeder's only complaint.

Roeder complained that the names and addresses of his visitors and correspondents had been made public by the jail “and that some of these have been subjected to questioning by the police power as a consequence.”

Huh. Can't imagine why the police would question some of Roeder's visitors. Maybe because he's been known to pal around with terrorists, like Cheryl Sullenger, senior policy adviser for Operation Rescue, who served two years in prison for plotting to bomb an abortion clinic? Oh, and these guys:

1. I bet we wishes he'd never been born
And if his mother had had access to a safe abortion, his wish might have come true.

6. Well, I certainly wish he'd never been born
How few Dr. Tillers we have who truly care about the health and well-being of women. And, how many misogynistic terrorist assholes like Roeder are out there? Too damned many, that's for sure.

2. Taking him at his word, "We all have a sense of duty and obligation
to protect innocent life. If anybody is in a situation where they can, I think it is their obligation."

I guess that means we should start killing Roeder's murdering associates?

3. He violated Dr. Tiller's right to life.
We have the right to deprive him of his right to freedom.

10. To pick at a nit.
We don't have that right. Right's are, with certains excretious exemptions (thanks SCOTUS and your corporate masters), confered to individuals.

We do have, as a society, an obligation to separate and punish those who constitute a danger to our society or the individuals of that society. It is our responsibility, not our right.

Like I said, picking at nits. Carry on. We agree on everything except semantics.

4. There is no longer any presumption of innocence
since he was convicted by a jury of his peers for a crime he admitted doing.

While he is able to appeal that conviction, he is not considered innocent while he does so.

He's also shit out of luck on the appeal.

I wonder how long it's going to take to dawn on him that this is the rest of his life and that he was used by the Operation Rescue dirtballs.

11. He will NEVER figure that out.
He will live out his life behind bars convinced that the "government" and "libruls" and "satanist baby killers" targeted him. He is already convinced he is a martyr for the cause. THat kind of insanity is beyond therapy or cure.

5. "disregard for the presumption of my innocence.” ??
was he not found guilty? also, if he could spend so much time "carefully planning" a murder, he should have "carefully planned" for a life behind bars. surely he isn't stupid enough to think there would be any other outcome? he should be perfectly happy playing the martyr from a cell for the rest of his miserable murderous life.

8. Tough shit Dirtball.
While the Docs family miss him FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES and his friends miss him FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES and the women he so bravely and openly agreed had the right to determine their own future and needs, the women he helped when no one else would, the women he was willing to take this risk for will miss him FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES it seems rather petty, Dirtball, that you would complain about how unfairly you were treated.

The mourning that went on here and still goes on here whenever we think of what happened will never really go away so Dirtball, you can just bite me. Enjoy your view and the wonderful food and company and when the going gets tough for you maybe you should reflect on the rights of those you so callously took away just because YOU did not think what he was doing was right. I know it is too much to ask for you to consider others over your personal convictions. OK, just enjoy rotting in a hell hole cell for the next 20 or 30 years when this country will finally be able to stop paying to keep your lousy ass housed and fed.

13. Think his imprisonment isn't living up to his expectations.
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 12:09 PM by badgerpup
He was probably expecting to be welcomed and treated as "a martyr to a glorious cause" and get lots of respect and kudos from both the guards and his fellow inmates.
What I don't think he realized is that from the inmates' standpoint a vast majority of them are 'innocent' :sarcasm:
and from the standpoint of the guards' they are NOT, or they wouldn't be here...
and 'respect' in a prison society is a WHOLE different ball of wax from that of outside.
You have to be an extremely strong, ruthless, nasty-ass mofo to earn 'respect' on the inside.
An "innocent martyr to a glorious cause" merely gets eaten for lunch.

CAVEAT: Anything I may think I know about prison I learned from reading on the Internet...and watching Miami CSI.
