The Gulf, Oil and Republican Hypocrisy
Edited on Tue Jun-29-10 06:21 PM by Ed Barrow
I realize most of you recognize that Republicans are amongst the most hypocritical of creatures to roam this Earth and it would fail to shock or surprise you to hear one more instance or example of said hypocrisy….but I really feel we should point it out, talk about it and share the facts as far and wide and as often as it occurs (which is pretty much daily and sometimes hourly for these clowns). Today, I bring you hypocrisy from the state of Mississippi and Gov. Haley Barbour. As a bonus, the hypocrisy of Republicans is also shared with Democratic representatives from the same state.

Barbour condemns a lack of resources; Rep. Gene Taylor is ‘dumbfounded’ by ‘wasted effort, wasted money and stupidity.’ Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Alex approaches.

I’m having a WTF??? and “um, wow” moment…

As the shores of Biloxi, Miss., took their turn being slimed by oil Monday, Mississippi officials including Gov. Haley Barbour slammed the federal government and BP for failing to capture the crude offshore.

If you recall, Barbour is the same idiot politician who suggested we had no reason to be concerned about the animals being suffocated in oil because it wasn’t really harmful to them “Barbour described the oil as “weathered, emulsified, caramel-colored mousse, like the food mousse.” “Once it gets to this stage, it’s not poisonous,” Barbour said. “But if a small animal got coated enough with it, it could smother it. But if you got enough toothpaste on you, you couldn’t breathe.”

Barbour and friends also rail daily against big government and government interference (states rights and on so on), until the moment they have any chance to lose or gain political capital. On the one hand, they tell us that the government is too big and too intrusive and on the other hand, they scream that the Federal Government hasn’t stopped the oil and hasn’t cleaned it up. The Republicans, and often any politician in general, do not care about the individual, the citizen, the family or the environment. We’re a means to an end. It’s more important for these creatures to protect big business and their own than to actually do the right thing and admit that some problems require the help of others.

...

The right wing wants to control our lives. It’s true! They want to tell me what religion to practice and that I should pray in school and in public places; they want me to not have control over my own body and allow to make choices about my controlling my reproduction (including not wanting to make birth control available with insurance, but don’t you dare take away the viagra that’s covered); they don’t want darker skinned people crossing our borders and stealing our jobs (although they’re perfectly happy to ship American jobs overseas) and they don’t want government help in disasters, except when they do.
