TSA Pat-Downs Prove It - Americans are Whiners
The latest controversy over Transportation Security Administration body scans and enhanced body pat-downs leaves no doubt: America truly is a nation of whiners.

A CBS News poll found that 81 percent of Americans support full-body airport scanning. That reasonable view is being drowned out by elements on the left and the right who love nothing better than to proclaim that they are victims.

First exhibit: Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, who introduced the American Traveler Dignity Act to "protect Americans from physical and emotional abuse." Abuse? Have Americans become such babies that a pat-down designed to prevent another 9/11 causes adults to melt down?

16. Boy, she even shilled for Texas Oil in the last election....
I missed that one... there's no corporate authority she's opposed to!

If that's "moderate," well, I guess it's a sign how even farther right the Republicans have drifted...

Finally an issue the left and Fox News can agree on.

3. it doesn't matter how much propaganda is posted to shut Americans up, this is about our rights
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 12:03 AM by flyarm
About our constitutional rights that are being stolen from us daily!

So keep posting propaganda, it won't work anymore.

The 81% polled were not told about the dangers of the radiation emmiting machines , nor were they told about the groping of their crotches and their tits! or their children's crotches being groped!

Some around here are doing their damnest to shut Americans up about losing their basic Constitutional rights.

Pssssssssssssssss...It isn't working.

From a now retired Flight crew of one of the 9/11 airlines NY based..who will fight this bullshit every step of the way!

My rights are more immportant to me that the bullshit being dished out by our government to steal my rights and those rights of my family!!

If you are not questioning your constitutional rights being shit on, then how American are you????????

Some people around here need to look deeply in a mirror and ask themselves what they do stand for , if it is not the constitution..then who and what do they stand for???????????

7. Right to get blown up?
I don't remember that one... Maybe they should have different flights for people who don't want to go through security.

As far as I'm concerned, getting patted down at an airport is the least of our problems.

9. Well thinking that being patted down at an airport is actually keeping us safe IS a problem.
People wanting to give up rights and dignity for some imaginary safety is a HUGE problem.

At what point do you say enough? Cavity searches? Flying naked and sedated? Where do you draw that line?

10. How many airplanes have been blown up in aviation history? Can you answer that?????
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 01:00 AM by flyarm
how many have crashed from maintenance problems? How many from design flaws? How many from Pilot error? How many from weather??????? or ATC Control tower mistakes.

I know in my 33 years of flying as a flight crew I went through 3 major emergencies.

Do you remember the DC10 cargo doors blowing off the aircraft ?

Do you remember a DC 10 going down over Chicago?

How about one plane landing on the other at LAX?

How about the planes that hhave gone down with wind sheer?

I could go on and on, but if you are an adult , you can look them up!

I have spent my entire adult life watching accident films as a flight crew. There are so few aircraft of any airlines that have gone down from blowing up or being taken down by terrorists, but shit loads of accidents by Error or maintenance flaws ..

This so called security is utter bullshit. It is kabuki theater...at it's best.

If half of the money being wasted on these machines alone, pilots could get more rest and all flight crew could, and maintnenance could be improved , and it would save more lives than the bullshit you are being sold on now.

And what you are being sold, has nothing to do with safety, but it does have to do with corporate greed and greasing the pockets of those who will profit from the selling of these radiation emmitting machines!
This has to do with stealing your rights. and the greed of a very few.

18. Great rant, Flyarm. Don't give up the fight. Yes, it's utter BS...
There are a multitude of weak links in airport security, and passengers are only a small part of that. Maintenance people can crawl all over those planes, at will, for one. And the lack of cargo screening has been mentioned repeatedly here.

And if there ever was "kabuki theater" it was the so-called Christmas bombing. First of all, there was no 'bombing" last Christmas, in spite of what Mr. Obama says. There was an alleged attempt.

That incident has special ops written all over it. Why doesn't anyone want to talk about the well-dressed man who aided Mr. Abdulmutallab in getting on the plane in the first place. (I believe the attorney, Mr. Haskill's statement). Mr. A's father had contacted authorities about his concerns regarding his son. Yet again, after we were told the govt. would do better after 9/11, nothing was done. Why?

First reports were that when they dragged Mr. A. off the plane he seemed confused and disoriented. Not at all the behavior of a terrorist extremist, IMO. Can you say MK ULTRA? He finally decided to talk after about 5 weeks of silence. What was going on at that time. Waterboarding maybe? I'm surprised he didn't confess to having kidnapped the Lindberg baby.

Supposedly Mr. A. was trained by the notorious Cleric, al Alwaki. I heard someone on NPR talking about how intelligent and dangerous Alwaki is. Funny thing...he sure f*cked up the Christmas Day event didn't he? He apparently trained some hapless schlump who couldn't pour piss out of a boot.

Unless, of course, the whole point was to ramp up the fear so Mr. Chertoff could rake in even MORE money.

I swear to Gawd, I almost believe that guy who writes the books about them all being some alien reptilian species. The insanity is mind-boggling. As someone here said in their sig line: "Some days it just doesn't pay to chew through the restraints."

SHE IS 5 YEARS OLD.

My best friends Grand Daughter can not be PREPARED. She is made to feel like a freak!

27. I Sort of Believe It
but, I think it leaves off an important caveat:

81% of Americans are okay with the enhanced security as long as it is done to some one else

In other words, poll only people who have been subject to it or had a loved one subject to it (in their presence.)

25. There are polls, and there are polls
There is also a Nov. 19-21 poll of Americans who have flown at least twice in the past year by Zogby International that shows 61 percent oppose the use of body scanners and pat downs. There is one from USA Today that says 57% are "bothered or angered" by the new, more thorough pat downs and about half think the scanners/pat downs do not make anyone any safer. Still another, from the Washington Post, finds 64% support the machines/pat downs. The polls are all over the place, so pointing to any one poll as "proof" of anything is absurd.

The thing to keep in mind is the sample sizes of the respective polls:

CBS News poll 1,137 respondents
USA Today poll 757 respondents
Wash. Post/ABC 514 respondents
Zogby Int. 2,032 respondents

My point is that none of these polls has a large enough sample size to be statistically representative of the entire country, so it is generally not a good idea to throw around poll results as "proof" of much of anything.

26. Yeah, Whiners Alright
We want things like the freedom not to have our children molested at the airport.

I know, it's not technically molestation. You know, when the cops do it, it isn't illegal.
