World Series Simulation: Red Sox in Six
BOSTON (Ticker) -- Even though St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa continues to play coy about his rotation for the rest of the World Series, we plugged in who we thought would get the ball and used a computer to simulate one of the most highly anticipated World Series in recent memory. Here are the results:

Game One

BOSTON - It took a while, but the St. Louis Cardinals eventually figured out Tim Wakefield's knuckleball.

Jim Edmonds and Tony Womack had two-run doubles in a four-run sixth inning as the Cardinals took the series opener with a 6-2 triumph over the Boston Red Sox.

Wakefield allowed just two runners over the first four innings, but Womack had an RBI double in the fifth to snap a scoreless tie. The Cardinals tacked on four runs in the next inning as Edmonds delivered a ground-rule double and Womack came through with a two-out, two-base hit.

St. Louis starter Woody Williams was masterful, tossing an eight-hitter. He allowed a first-inning homer to Mark Bellhorn but struck out eight.

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz combined to go 0-for-8 with three strikeouts.

1. If Woody allowed a first inning shot to Bellhorn,
how did Womack's RBI double in the fifth break up a scoreless tie?

Sloppy reporting.

2. Pardon my ignorance..
but when would the World Series be over if it were played to all seven games?

(my key question.. would this be in time for the election..?) :)
