A letter to my American Friend - From Nigeria
I am at home alone without a tone needless to mention the making of a phone call. We do everything with nothing and view anything with nothing in our intestines. Ours here in Nigeria is half home-half bush, to say the fact we lack unwavering power supply, as it is in the bush needles to switch-on a fan. When it comes to feeding, ours is 0:1:0, a ratio implying no breakfast, have lunch and no dinner. Dividends of democracy it seems?

Foreigner friend, let me explain. This aren’t my fault, neither it is of about million or so eligible voters who voted the present administration into power in 1999 willingly and sincerely. Today, life is becoming more and more expensive and hard for poor people like others and me in Nigeria because of some evil manoeuvrings of some of our leaders upon whom we bestow our trust.

I know if I say I am suffering from this and that or from fuel paucity or lack of money to buy food like Gari you will not easily comprehend the point I am trying to make, because you are not conversant with all this depravity, but as I know you are very much aware of the significance of American Dollar to the world economy (export and imports wise) I will not hesitate to let you know that today $1 is exchanged at about N117 or even higher in Nigerian currency and I believe you can predict the possible consequences.

1. There is no reason
that the people of Nigeria should be starving, except for the incredible greed of the leaders of Nigeria and the US. Nigeria is rich in oil and has refineries. Yet the Nigerian people have nothing to eat. What's wrong with this picture?
