Medieval mural's tales of sorcery
(The earliest depiction of witchcraft has recently been discovered replete with liberated penises flying around and nesting in trees.)

John Hooper in Rome
Tuesday December 28, 2004
The Guardian

Two of the women in the mural are tearing at each other's hair as they appear to fight for possession of a magically liberated penis as the one described in the Malleus Maleficarum. On the other side of the woman with a stick another is being sodomised by another free-
wheeling, or rather free-floating, male organ.
:wow:

"Dr Ferzoco, recalled a passage from the "inquisitors' manual", the Malleus Maleficarum, which had long baffled and amused scholars.

In its description of witches' practices, intended to help witch-hunters identify their prey, it says they were in the habit of robbing men of their genitals.

" sometimes collect male organs in great numbers, as many as 20 or 30 members together, and put them in a bird's nest, or shut them up in a box, where they move themselves like living members, and eat oats and corn," wrote the authors of the Malleus Maleficarum."

:freak:

3. Wait a minute. Who's the lunatic here?
Certainly not the witches. Sounds like someone had some crazy fantasies and didn't want to admit it.

4. Sounds like it coincides with the time of Aradia.
She was travelled around italy reviving the worship of Diana during the 1200's or 1300's.

5. Perhaps its not lunacy. Don't you think that thousands of
woman back than would have resented the power and privilege men enjoyed and would have fantasized about having some magical way of getting that one thing that symbolizes male privelege?

I felt very sad reading the article thinking about the millions of intellectually brilliant women who would have had no opportunity to fulfill themselves whose only hope lay in fantasies of magically getting a phallus. The real lunacy is the privelege given to one sex at the expense of the other.
