2. Hey...............
you never know when there's a lot of "chatter". It was a politically timed event to keep good 'Murkins aware that 'Bush is protecting them' during the holiday season. Every holiday they pull out the alerts so they'll keep a sense if fear in us. It's geting to be like the boy who cried "wolf" though, nobody believes them anymore and it's quite transparent.

5. Yes
by the way when they first said we were goong to have this... ahem I was expecting them to instruct Muricans on what to look for... to help avoid another attack... it is quite simple.. what you need to instruct people to look for.

Then the alerts became the child that cried wolf and how to scare muricans... they have misused them to the point of being almost comical

For the record, having worked in emergency services alerts DO HAVE A ROLE... as part of policy... but these alerts are a joke.

9. I heard a figure today of a couple million bucks....
That was just for overtime pay for California Highway Patrol officers. The total nationwide would have to be staggering. Another tax cut should take care of it though.

10. Here are a few threads I posted before Xmas about this hoax
Since then I have found a lot more evidence that the 'chatter' that Tom Ridge bases his alerts from is coming from folks like Jeremy Reynalds and other 'terrorist experts' and not from real Muslim terrorists. As a matter of fact the more I dig up, the more I coming to believe that al Qaeda is just a subsidiary of the CIA. I'm willing to bet Osama is still getting paychecks from the agency.

13. It reminds me of hazing
Especially that aspect of hazing which is the scariest part: the anticipation. I think there's a frat rat element to this.
