I am an angry democrat
I just read the latest press release on Paul O'Neill's upcoming book (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/01/09/60minutes/main592330.shtml
), and noticed something that is pissing me off.

O'Neill is claiming that Bush had his heart set on invading Iraq from the first days he took office, saying "Find me a way to do this."

Which seems to confirm the reports we heard earlier this year that Bush dropped Osama bin Laden from being the top US national security priority, behind such things as Iraq and North Korea. And then, after 9/11, when he couldn't catch Osama, he dropped him in priority again to invade Iraq.

And maybe because Bush had this Iraq obsession and couldn't get his head out of his arse to see the threat posed by Osama, 3000 Americans died.

Can't we impeach him already?

1. And I'm convinced that...
...the NeoCons let 911 happen on purpose so that they could activate their plans to attack BOTH Afghanistan and Iraq.

Nearly 3000 Americans died to give the NeoCons the excuse they needed to attack those countries.

Does that make you even more angry?

2. That's a tough one...

Bernie Sanders (VT Dem Congressman) was on the air with Thom Hartman yesterday. Someone asked that very question. He made it clear that it won't happen - there simply are not the votes.

My thoughts on it are this:
Congress is presently a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporations, and won't make any decisions that those corporations or the White House (synonymous) don't want. So he is probably correct, the votes just are not there unless you have overwhelming public demand for such an impeachment.

Unless you can conclusively prove (for example) that Bush* was directly tied to Sept 11, so as to overwhelmingly shape public opinion (reversing the polarity of the public opinion PNAC wished to shape with such an event) then you won't change that simple fact - we just won't have the votes to impeach.

I think our energies are better directed towards enthusiastically working on the upcoming campaign season, working on the electronic voting issue, and working on efforts to actively communicate the depth of corruption and lying that is conducted by the Bush* cabal.

2 cents...

on edit, added reference to Bernie being from Vermont
