Great NPR segment with liberal firebrand Ed Schultz
All the way at the bottom.

http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/

THIS is the kind of the guy we need on the radio, not droning Ph.D.'s and those whose talents are best expressed in the written word.

This guy sounds like Limbaugh--and, frankly, I see Limbaugh's talents. Except, of course, that he is moral and intelligent

2. He sounds good....
He does sound like Limbaugh but he does sound like a lefty Limbaugh. I will have to try to tune in to him.

3. Beware. He used to do conservative talk radio
He is a talk show host by profession. Let us hope he is up to the task. I listened to OTM this morning.

5. pro business
can't seem to see why it's bad that businesses are forced to hire cheap labor in order to be competitive...in reference to the Bush immigration stuff the other day

6. Who's being intolerant now
Who is being intolerant now????

Is it possible that someone who hunts and is anti-abortion is progressive in terms of taxation, separation of church and state, media monopolization etc...

The BIGGEST problem with the Democrats is that they're over strenuous in terms of homosexual issues and abortion. They are alienating TONS of southern voters who economically would be better off voting Democrat.

BTW, I strongly recommend "Blinded by the Right" by David Brock. It contains a powerful message for potential censors on BOTH sides of the aisles.

7. I was getting ready to reply...
But you beat me to it.

I'm not sure what being pro-hunting or pro-gun has or doesn't have to do with being liberal. I sure hope the PETA mentality doesn't represent anything more than a small fringe position among liberals, otherwise we are in very deep doodoo indeed.

I caught the Ed Schultz show a couple of days ago for the first time and loved it. I don't know what his views are on abortion, but I rather like the idea of a "gun-toting meat-eating liberal Democrat". It demolishes the RW stereotypes of liberals for one thing, and it keeps liberalism true to its working class base for another.

8. Well...
here is where I divide with the rest of the party. I don't believe in gun control...I don't like the DLC though...I consider myself a very liberal member of the left but this whole issue of gun control has always rubbed me wrong.

That being said I don't care much for Daschle or Mrs. Clinton but I am glad that we have another left-wing voice in the mix.

9. With Dubaya's actions
With the Patriot act and Bush's Hitler-esque methodologies, I'm starting to think the militia nut-jobs have it right.

The truth is that city gun bans have ZERO affect on gun levels. In Chicago, guns are brought in from Indiana by whoever and sold on the street. Lowering overall gun levels is a noble cause, but it's a fruitless endeavor.

Rather, efforts to make guns safer is a good strategy. Assault weapon bans are good. Efforts to make guns that only fire for their owners are good.

I have strong fears for the future of my country. I hope I never have to pick up a weapon to fight a fascist Bush state that completely disregards the constitution. But if that day comes, we will need those guns.

10. Ease up on the droning Ph.D.s!
Not all Ph.D.s are droning! Perhaps a tad bit dry, but not droning!

;)
