Bush: "I've done more for human rights than any other President."
Something Bush said to Ken Auletta (author of Backstory), as relayed to Bill Moyers on NOW.

Hmmm, can anybody out there think of a President who's done more for human rights?

4. Actually, that's exactly what he said he was doing.
Watch this week's NOW - every piece is great this week, including an interview with Helen Thomas. Auletta's interview is last on the program.

continue to repeat Bush's lies like this, until they begin to believe it themselves and ignore the facts and do no research to see the facts for themselves...sheep!

As usual, Bush will say any bullshit lie and expects enough people to accept it as the truth. And the republican owned corporate media pimps his bullshit relentessly as gospel.

merely along with the position he's in league with a rogue's gallery of destructive hypocrites.. he could sit on his ass and do nothing all day and the statement would be correct. That he thinks butchering thousands every couple years means "human rights" is just bizarre.

15. If by
"doing more for human rights than any other president" he means that his policies have caused a larger disparity between the income brackets (more poor), a balloning deficit will probably cause Medicare and Social Security to be cut (creating even more poor),
bombing two innocent countries and then refusing to count the innocent bodies that got caught in the cross hairs, trying to knock back affirmative action for minorities, jumping on the band wagon to strip "human rights" from a group of people because of the sex of the individuals they decide to date, holding 300 people without access to lawyers, presiding over the administration that is responsible for the shredding of our constitutional rights, three words, "Free Speach zones," finally (but not limited to) proposing to spend billions of dollars on a new space race while thousands of the U.S. population goes hungry, then yes he has "done more for human rights than any other president."

Come this next election, we should all remind him of these accomplishments.

26. Say What?!?!?!?!!
GRRRR!!!

He said what?!?!?! Maybe he meant he did more to erode human rights than any other President. Maybe he meant he has done more to polarize this country than any other President. Maybe he meant he has done more to alienate this country from its allies than other President. Maybe he meant he's spent more than any other President. Vacationed more. Lied more. Been more arrogant.

Those are much more accurate statements.

28. Well, he's right
If you look at the kind of "president" he is, and then look at the other "presidents" in his class (homicidal maniacs who were installed by the ruling junta), he really has done more for human rights than any of those other guys.

Certainly he's been a more tireless defender of the right to free speech than Pol Pot or Idi Amin--after all, his goon squad drags people behind the wall before shooting them, unlike guys like the president of China during Tiananmen Square, who just had 'em shot right in front of all of their friends.

And he's been a more tireless defender of the right to protest than Augusto Pinochet. Bush's goon squad only uses water cannons. Pinochet's used field artillery.

And who can forget his never-ceasing defense of the right to keep and bear arms? No other president in his class has ever kowtowed to the gun nuts the way Bush has--in fact, they're one of his most faithful contingencies. Alberto Fujimori sent his goon squads around to police up the guns; Bush encourages gun ownership so long as you're white, rich and contribute heavily to the Republican Party. This won't work to his detriment, since his goon squad is the most heavily-armed in history.

If you're comparing Bush to the other 42 presidents the United States has had, stop. There is no comparison. Those guys were all legally elected.

32. Well, I hate to say this, but
from his perspective - maybe. What are human rights to a neocon? Think about it. I would sum up his perspective as "the rights of neocons and fundies." He's done a whole lot for THEM. The rest of us and the world don't really count. So, yes, I can believe he was serious.
