Anyone watch Lou Dobbs tonight?
Didn't catch the whole story but, it appears that OUR Secretary of Labor was in Baghdad today (this is the part I didn't catch) regarding jobs and employment. I've tried several different search engines and can't find anything.

Anyone, anyone?

U.S. labor secretary encourages Iraqi women to ``fight for the soul'' of Iraq

SARAH EL DEEB
Associated Press Writer

HILLA, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao told Iraqi women Thursday that it's up to them take part in the political life of the new Iraq, rejecting the idea of setting up quotas for women.

... Iraqi women had more rights when Saddam Hussein was in power than many in the Middle East, despite living in a dictatorship.

With the collapse of Saddam's nominally secular regime, the influence of Islamic traditionalists has grown, especially in the majority Shiite community.

As a result, many woman have sought quotas in parliament, government agencies and local councils to guarantee them a place in Iraqi politics. They urged Chao to persuade the occupation authorities to establish such a system.

5. I don't think any one told Chao that "fighting for the soul of Iraq"...
... kinda tends to get you branded a "Saddam loyalist" or somesuch.

Damn hypocrites.

10. Oh, I See now
Affirmative action for Iraqis is A-ok. I would hope that when she gets back, she gets the chimp to make an impassioned plea with the American people to support "quota systems" and "favoritism" for women and minorities here.
Do you think the wingers would blow a fuse?

8. She's the wife of my charming (not) senator, Mitch (no finance re-
form) McConnell. She should be heading the dept. of CEO's; everything that she does is anti-labor.
