If it is someone you worked closely with you might just remember their name. For instance, I still remember my CO's name but I don't know my Battalion Commander's name.

Unbelievable. I can remember my first job (after baby-sitter)...picking strawberries in Enon Ohio. That was a long time ago. I remember every job I have ever had and what I did. How can you put on a uniform and report to a military unit and not remember what you did? Oh, unless it is a make-believe story or lie, that one sometimes forgets how the lie goes. Or the other possibility is that he has so much brain damage he seriously can't remember. Neither answer is acceptable for a person so close to having their finger on the NUKES for Crying Out Loud!

These lies will bite him sooner rather than later. Thankfully.

Commanding Officer.
Mine were Major James "Blackjack" Nunnelly and then Lt. Col. Oly Logan. <on edit> That was over 30 years ago.

At the monthly drill week-end, we gathered in the squadron room and answered roll call on Saturday and Sunday morning. Not there to answer "present", no pay and you had to make up the drill that same quarter.

When you came out on your own for an FTP (Flying Training Period), you had to:
1. Be on the roster to be assigned an airplane.
2. Note in the aircraft log flight time, number of landings, etc., and sign it.
3. Fill out a form listing the training items you'd accomplished during that flight. We were a photo-reconnaissance squadron.
i.e. "3 right-oblique photos, two vertical photos, 2 VOR (instrument) approaches, 1 full stop landing. Total flight time 1+30 (an hour and 30 minutes)." This form goes in your records to count toward the necessary quarterly training requirements.
